As many of you know I am building my 1993 Ranger named Betty. I wanted to start a build thread for my 7.3 Liter Diesel OBS F-250 Short Bed Crew Cab tow rig.

I bought this truck in September of 2016 from a older gentleman who was the second owner. The truck has been in California it’s whole life and is super clean for being 21 years old.

I named her Diez because this is the tenth vehicle I’ve owned. Here’s a listing so I can keep track.

1. 1993 Ford Ranger XLT Extra Cab
2. 2003 Chevrolet 1500 HD CCSB
3. 1989 Nissan Hardbody bagged and bodied
4. 1992 Ford Ranger XLT Extra Cab
5. 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe
6. 2004 Chevrolet 1500 CCSB
7. 1990 Ford Ranger XLT Extra Cab
8. 1993 Ford Ranger XLT Extra Cab “Betty”
9. 2003 Honda Civic LX Sedan
10. 1997 Ford F-250 HD CCSB “Diez”
11. 2000 Toyota Camary DX Sedan

The specs:
1997 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Short Bed XLT
Oxford White
152,000 miles when I bought it just under 157,000 miles as of today.

Banks power pack kit
Banks intercooler
Banks trans command
A pillar gauges
-Boost
-Pyrometer
Dashmat
Focal audio components in doors
Kenwood head unit
JL Audio 10” Subs behind rear seat
Alpine Audio 500 watt amp
BFG KO2 AT 285-75-16
American Racing Wheels
55 gal transfer tank tool box combo
Bilstein Shocks
LED Lighting throughout

FUCK YEEEESSSSSSSS.

I have always wanted to build this exact truck into a badass 4 linked front/deaver'd rear tow pig!

Didn't really look closely at the pics, but is it straight axle or TTB?

I have more of the story to write still...

It is 2wd. I’m planning to do a Dana 60 SAS with a RSK kit soon.

I think it’s 2wd Jake... I have 2wd 97 250HD 7.5 gasser I tow w/. If you want to lift it on the cheap I put these Bronco Graveyard radius arms on mine w/305/70/16’s rides good and has plenty of clearance.

jealous of the crew cab and the 7.3, I just dn’t tow enough to justify the diesel premium. Sweet tow pig for sure!!
Very interesting. Looks good with that setup. My plan is to do a 4x4 conversion with a Dana 60 straight axle from an F-350

That'll be nice, I didn't want to invest too much into an extended cab gasser. Can't wait to see it built up!
Yea I hear ya. I did some cost analysis on this. It would cost about the same for me to have a shop here locally bend the beams and lift it as it will to 4wd swap it myself ... and then I will have 4x4. Seems like a win in my book

Saw this on craigslist for a while, knew someone would swoop it, stoked your converting it to 4wd. Any reason you are doing a solid axle rather than beams? could throw beams and a coilover up front pretty easily!
