Ford ranger coil buckets

So I have a 2002 XLT ranger with front coil springs and arms. I’m planning on building it with tubular shock hoops but the coil buckets for this model stick out 2-4” on each side. I was wondering what others have done with the coil buckets on this model. Do I cut the buckets so the frame is straight and then weld on plate steel ? Or do I make the hoops stick out more? Any help or prior experience would be appreciated. Thanks

Cut the coil bucket out like this:




Then plate it back in like this:





I used a ruffstuff shock mount & added lots of gusseting:



Quick and easy. A thread that documents my miller highlife consumption whilst fabricating this for my buddy exists if you’re interested.
