What did you end up doing brandon? Also curious on more info on the 4runner, miles? how many miles have you put on it? pink/red toyota coolant? universal green?
I’ve put about 500 miles on it since the new gaskets, seems good to go.

I took the heads to the machine shop and had them checked for flatness and they were only like .003” out. They pressure tested them, both were good so I just had them decked and passed on the valve job (expensive on these heads) ordered new head bolts also just in case.

Running “universal” coolant.
Truck has just over 200k miles. Been driving it a lot lately to make sure it’s ok.

Any idea why the head gasket let go? a lot of corrosion? I highly recommend running toyota coolant, ive pulled motors apart worth with 250k miles and they are spotless with toyota coolant. My 22re was destroyed from running the universal green coolant.
