I was just thinking about that! You came by and cut and bent that thing in like 2 hrs when I was getting ready for that Plaster City race. Then I crashed my truck the next morning on the way to work

That wasn’t just a crash I thought you were French toast when I got that call

story time! Catch a ridge in that wash? Ocotillo Wells?
Ya in Ocotillo in the wash that goes out to the Salton Sea. The corner before the left hander where we rolled had some big bushes so i couldn’t see very far ahead. We came in hot to the left hander and I hit the brakes to try and get slowed down a little bit but since I was on the brakes and not the gas the steering was completely locked up. The ass end swung left and since i had no steering I couldn’t turn into it. I think we were completely sideways when the front tires went over the little berm in the corner and it was over after that. I originally thought we swapped back right before it rolled but after looking at the truck a little closer and the way the truck landed we definitely rolled over the driver side first.

We went over 1 3/4 times and landed on the passenger door and were still going between 50-60 when we rolled. The cab, doors and bedside mounts are toast but the rest of the truck was perfectly fine and we were able to drive it back after topping the fluids off.

I figured its time to update this thread since Ive been terrible at it and mostly post on Instagram. Ive been pretty active with racing this year and have had the truck out quite a bit since I rolled it. I will update the events Ive done since then in chronological order.

The Juberas came by the week of the SNORE Caliente race in June and helped get the truck ready even though they couldnt make it to the race. Ryan kicked ass on scabbing the new top half off the cab on.

This is how the truck looked on Wednesday the week of the race lol. I didnt have time to take any pics of the truck from this point on until after the “race” because in typical K Baugh fashion it was a mad dash to make it to the starting line. I put race in quotes because I did make it to Caliente but it was an absolute shit show. I made it off the line dead last, 30 mins late and with no codriver and the truck shut off a 1/2 mile later so I threw in the towel. This is the only pic I got in Caliente haha

It ended up being a bad battery disconnect switch that caused the truck to die. I bolted the battery cable straight to the frame and it fired right up and didnt die. The truck still had a fresh prep on it so I decided to do Del Mar Tuff Trucks for some redemption from my 2009 appearance lol. They scored it with a combined time of your 3 best runs and I pulled off a 4th and the First Leaf Springer. I got jipped on the leaf springer award because they didnt know my truck was leaf sprung haha.

Shortly after Tuff Trucks I took the truck up to Ryan Jubera and we redid the whole steering setup. I didnt get any pics of the process but we were able to get the bumpsteer down to about 1/2” through the entire 20” of travel. I think there aresome pics of the swinger and pitman arm in the Jubare Fab portfolio thread. I also fixed the issues I was having with not being able to keep the camber or alignment settings in place. I realized the couple of hard hits to the front end caused the stock D44 beam end to open up on the sides and bring the ball joint spacing together. The ball joint spacing being too close wasn't letting the cam bushing open up and lock onto the ball joint taper like its supposed to. I spread it back out with a port a power and welded/gusseted the shit out it lol.

After the new steering setup with the ram assist and fixing the camber and alignment issue driving the truck was a night and day difference. The steering is super fast and responsive just like I wanted it to be and Im no longer sore after driving it for a few hours haha

I was shooting to do the SNORE night race as I was still hoping to chase the 7s Pro championship even after the FUBAR performance in Caliente but I just couldn't swing it with needing to buy lights on top of everything else to make it to the race so I decided to skip it and forget about the 7s championship. I decided to run the MORE PCI 300 in Lucerne and I'm glad I did. There was a $1000 bonus for class 2000 and an extra $500 from Mckenzies. Ryan Jubera co drove the whole race and absolutely kicked ass navigating in the thick dust all day. We came away with the win after battling hard with the DHR Fab truck.
