After eyefucking it for a while I may have to reverse the layout. I was going to have the P-side swinger next to the crossmember. But the tie-rod will hit the drag link at full bump. I will also need a bend in the P-side tie-rod to clear the swinger. If I go the other way it may have better clearance on everything.
Things are getting cool.
Ordered the radiator from Speedway about 1PM friday and the fucking thing showed up sat about noon! Scary fast shipping.
Ok, steering is kicking my ass. Damn 8.8 diff cover sticks out way farther than the stock housing. This is pushing everything forward. Went back to the original plan, at least this way I can have 1 heterosexual tie rod.
Good thing I left that tierod long........
Plenty of room for the swinger now (maybe).
Clearanced the front of the diff cover a little for swinger clearance.
If somebody had remembered to bring home the left hand tap it would be all together..........
Steering shaft goes here
Needed a coupler to connect the angle drive box with the steering box so I cut up 2 and welded them together.
Angle drive box with the super ghetto fabulous coupler.
And it's all attached. Note I use nothing but the finest 12 point aircraft nuts for mock-up.
The tabs are just temporary as the box may move. I need to order 2 u-joint from flaming river to get the splines I need to make a real coupler that actually runs true.
If I had it to do over again I would tilt the box a little to give a little more clearance for the tie-rods. As it is some of the bolts are going to get shaved heads for clearance. Since they are 3/4" strength will not really be an issue.
Also, the cheapest phone at ATT seems to take really shitty pictures. Guess I shouldn't have tried to make a flip phone out of the Samsung................
