    SFI Foundation Specs

    3.2A Driver Suits /1,/3,/5= N/A
    3.2A Driver Suits /10,/15,/20= 5 Years

16.1 Driver Restraint Assemblies 2 Years

I'm pretty sure the suits do not expire (as long as you're not drag racing and need a 3.2A/10+ suit), belts are for sure 2 years.

MDR didn't check the dates of every belt on our truck, jut the lap belt right by the door, which was easiest to see. Could be a cheap way to get by. Buy 1 new belt and use parts of the new one and parts of the old one to get by tech.

It depends on who checks it. In my experience tech is a little different every time. lol

Last race they checked everything down to a T, with two people at once on my vehicle, even made me cover my + batt terminal haha. But race before that, in and out in about 1 minute.

I have never had any issue with my fire suits. I raced with one for over 5 years...... Then got fatter and had to get a bigger one, or I would still be racing with it. As far as I know, the age issue is just on the belts. I have heard you can also get them re certed by the manufacturer, although i have never tried to do it myself.

in the end of the day a couple hundred for new belts is nothing compared to the costs of racing. I spent more than twice that on Tuesday just for gas and food/drinks to go testing. Racing is FARRRR from cheap.

belts arent the expensive part. Its all the other shit we buy at the same time as the belts. lol I know i have a long laundry list of shit to buy before i can do the night race. Adding belts to that just makes it more expensive.

Not to mention the fact that we arent baller status like vance. I mean he is the only one that can afford the orange uridum glasses.

    Helmet
Yes they check dates on belts and suits.

On the helmet, IDK, those ratings confuse me. I just spent $600 on a HJC that they told me was SA rated (thats what everyone keeps saying you need, the "new" rating) But when I got it home all I see is a "snell approved" sticker. So IDK.
    Snell

    Where's the Snell label located?
There are two forms of the Snell serialized label. The most common is the adhesive label, but there is also a cloth type for the M, SA and RS standards. The adhesive label, or decal is usually affixed somewhere on the inside of the helmet. If it is not readily visible, check underneath the flaps of the comfort padding. The cloth type labels a generally sewn onto the chin strap and folded over. If a thorough search fails to turn up a decal then regardless of any claims or advertisements your helmet is not part of the Snell certification program and does not have the confidence of the Foundation.

    ___

Brad look inside the helmet to see what the cert is.

That came straight off the SFI website. I was under the impression that SCORE followed SFI but I guess they don't follow it exactly.

i thopught suits only requirements were single layer and one piece with no holes in it where does it say anything about age? and is this something i will realistically get messed with? i just bought a used 2 layer one piece of a sprint car guy and i am not sure of the age.

Old suits are fine if like you said, they are one piece, no holes and no dirt or grease (some dirt is fine). I've personally seen a roughly 10 year old suit pass no problem.

I am looking to get a Sparco, i was looking at saferacer.com and there seems like a decent price on the Sparco jade suit. Its a 3 layer suit and is rated SFI 3.2A/5 but it seems fairly cheap. You guys had expressed the proban suits are kind of crappy in comparison to nomex suits. I looked all over and couldn't find a sparco suit that spelled out nomex or otherwise in the description, so i was wondering if you guys had any additional info on that suit.

    Thanks in advance.

Since this got bumped up, my moms codawg at the Puff this year used a suit that was over 20 years old. Her husband ran SCORE back when they raced at Riverside, it was OLD but Red still passed it LOL.

I have one of these, Poly Performance JEEP/TRUCK & BUGGY*::*Safety Gear*::*Driving Suits & Accessories*::*SPARCO*::*Racing Suits*::*Sparco ONE Racing Suit (001052) - 4X4 Off-Road, JK Synergy Suspension Systems, Fox Racing Shox, Beard, CNC Brakes, Johnny JointsŪ, Currie E, and for the price it's a great suit. This will be my next one, Sparco*Profy Race Suit*-*SafeRacer.

I have also never seen any legit looking suit checked for any certifications, dates, holes, oil, poo stains etc in tech, nor have I been told to check them when I've teched road racers. Helmet ratings and seat-belt dates get checked about 50% of the time, but not suits.
