Default 2012 bee-hive classic championship series

We are happy to announce a 4 race series for the 2012 season, 2012 BEEHIVE CLASSIC Championship Series @ the Lucas Oil Regional Series So Cal presented by Kartek, This will consist of three different venus in two different states. Racers will earn points at each race towards the Championship! We would like to thank all of our sponsors, Lucas Oil, The BEE-HIVE Sports Bar, RIGID LIGHTING, HOSTILITY CLOTHING, FIBERWERX, SLIME, DEZERT RANGERS, GIANT MOTORSPORTS, MCC CONSTRUCTION, LEADFOOT OFFROAD, MWILSON PHOTO, GIANT MOTORSPORTS, and MCC Construction and also Lee and Poppy Perfect and Ken Johnson for all their support and hard work to make this happen.

    Race Schedule:

June 9, BEE-HIVE CLASSIC III Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park

September 29, BEE-HIVE CLASSIC IVLake Elsinore Motorsports Park

October ?? TBA. BEE-HIVE CLASSIC V Glen Helen (Baja Cup, Full 7 mile Course!)

November 10, BEE-HIVE CLASSIC VI INVITATIONAL Las Vegas Motor Speedway (TV Crew will be at this one)

Trophys for the top 5 finishers at each event
Lots of cash and prizes for each event

***The class will no longer be named 1450, the name will be changed to Unlimited Desert Truck class (UDT) Use of any # allowed.
The reason for the change is to enable a wider range of vehicles to race in this "race whatchu bring" Desert Truck racing class (fiberglass doors, etc.) The only requirement is 40" of frame, full tube chassis will be allowed but will start behind all trucks with a frame.

***Announcement for the 2013 season, Neck Restraints such as a Hans device etc. and a race radio will be MANDATORY. Again this is for the 2013 Lucas Oil series, NOT the 2012 series coming up. Just a heads up to get the ball rolling for NEXT season on safety.

Maybe it's been pointed out elsewhere but in case it hasn't, it appears as if the Vegas date is going to conflict with HDRA's Laughlin race weekend.

****A change of plans! The first 2 short course races will be held at the new Lake Elsinore track that is almost twice as long as the Glen Helen track, and can fit 5 pro-4's deep on the berms. The 3rd race will be the Glen Helen Baja cup style race, and the third will still be in Vegas! Get your trucks ready, this is coming up quick.

do you have to run fiberglass?

dont feel like buying another 1k in glass just to make it to the race, to have it all ripped to shreds again...

you spent 1 k on glass?!? ripoff. Sean, stay in the desert and keep those purty little fenders unscathed. This is short course racing, gotta realize some things will get messed up with the gnar action of bumpin and grindin. IF you get your truck outta Wicked...

Get to the front and your glass will be fine. Its all about line choice and how fast you can get around the slower trucks to get up there.

easier said than done. qualifying right behind you but getting taken out on the 1st lap is racing.

If you qualified right behind me then you would have started right infront of me for the race. They inverted the top 8. I started second in row four as I qualified second. You had a bad qualifying run and started way back. I think you were close behind me in practice while we were testing multiple lines. Not qualifying when I shaved another second and a half a lap. During the race you were more almost 3 seconds a lap slower than me fastest lap to fastest lap and almost 5mph slower top speed per the results. Maybe it was traffic. Either way it is always a good time racing short course, but patience and line choice is key to not getting smashed while making your way to the front. It also showed to be faster by a decent margin at the same time. Good Times!

wrong, in qualifying for the heat, i got 5th, right behind you, where my fastest lap that was almost 1 second slower than your fastest lap during the main occured. i got taken out by dillidustyn when he rolled on the 1st lap of the heat, thus knocking me out of running up front where i belonged. i ran out of gas during the main event while working my way from dead last to 4th. i hope we can settle this at elsinore cause glen helen was not my day.

idk what most time sheets say, but they dont tell the whole story usually. people dont get slower as the day goes on, but thats what the sheet shows. nor do i understand how a 50mph average vs a 48mph average is 5mph but with your logic i was in a different time zone! geez!

Here is a link to the time sheet again for your viewing pleasure. MYLAPS Results

The first round was practice which we lined up to qualify in the order we finished practice..... I finished third fastest(57.981), Chamlee fourth(58.182), and you fifth(58.728). Then we raced the heat/qualifying for our starting positions for the main. I qualified second(56.433) and you didn't qualify thus putting you in the back. In the end of the main I finished second(56.498) and you finished 7th(59.128). Is your 58.728 really almost only one second slower than my 56.498 I did in the main as you just said it was?

You don't understand how some people get slower as the day goes on?? The track goes away. Happens all the time. The corners got alot slicker lap by lap causing a bunch of peoples times to slow down a bit. Its normal.

Yes I read your best MPH wrong off the 46mph from the guy that finished right behind you on the sheet. My bad. The times don't lie though, but you can believe what you want man. I have listened to you tell me you are going to beat me for years.... It just has never happened. Just a line of excuses of whay you couldn't. Not a big deal Sean. I look forward to your stories of why it didn't happen again after next round, and read your posts about how you "could" have beat me.. but...... Just show up and bring it man. No more excuses.

Practice is qualifying for the heat, the heat put you in the main. To plainly state it instead of hoping you’d read it, I didn’t get slower and slower through out the day while you got faster and faster. I shaved seconds each lap in the practice qualifying which put me in 5th. I didn’t get a chance to try out the changes I made to the truck inbetween the practice and heat because I didn’t make it ½ lap when I got tagged by dilli dustyn. If I had the extra 6 laps to become more acquainted with the truck/track my times would continue to go down. Instead I had to wait till the main and work my butt off to get to front which was short lived cause of mr. pulido parking his truck into my door/firewall!

I didn’t bring up any excuses on why I finished where I did, I got docked a spot, truck wasn’t quite ready to be raced on but I had fun. it’ll feel that much better to beat you old man! Ill be there and be ready. We have NEVER raced a short course race together till the beehive race, so till next time keep working away at your v8 so that you can find a reason why you haven’t won any races in years! Last time we did line up you got spanked in plaster city! Must kill you to have such a looooong losing streak for how much you talk smack I may not have kicked ass in desert but I have won a short course race with more entries than we had at the classic, I’ll be ready to put in some work!

I will make sure to stay out of the way. I just hope I can stay close enough to watch this battle. Or wait until I get lapped to see it unfold. I think Nick needs to start you 2 next to each other all day. haha

i put on there i ran out of gas, but what really happened was the pick up in the cell had a crack in it, so when it got to half tank it stopped working in corners. didnt figure it out till i took it out to RATR. then the truck caught on fire.

but thanks for stiring the pot a little bit more for me since your so involved with all of this

Man you sure talk alot of shit for a guy that has a hard time even finishing a single lap. I think your woman is the racer in your relationship. As for your lap times getting slower(by less than 4/10 of a second) as the day went on.... Are you saying your tracker was not registering correctly? After all you passed a bunch of trucks that were ten seconds plus off the pace, so I am sure you were going much faster threw the traffic than the guys in the front in clean air. I sure you felt like you were flying going by the slower trucks... But, once again, the clock doesn't lie, and less than 4/10 of a second is nothing on that course. As for last time "we" lined up in Plaster city... Are you trying to say you drove from the right seat of Jerrys truck? I think that is the side of the truck you should stay on as the finishing positions seem to be much higher for you. As far as winning races. Sean I have won more races than you have entered in your entire life man. Do I win against the Jonos or Ryans with 20K powerplants racing my stock V6? I would think not. But putting it on the podium damn near every race out with it for years did just fine for me. You should try and do that sometime instead of telling everyone how fast you are. Results never lie. No need to shoot your mouth off about something you can't do. Maybe driving race trucks is not your thing. As I said... You seem to do better from the right side seat.

Believe me son, I would if I could afford it. I'm still having issues I gotta work out from blowing my motor at RATR. Plus, I'm down almost 30hp from what the truck used to be! Even though this motor has way more compression than the last one, and the heads & valves are supposed to be better than the last ones. Juanco really fucked me over. I really wish I had spent all my money I've dumped into this on a V8 now. I was somewhat happy with the way it was before, then my dumbass had to go and ruin it lmfao. I'm supposed to be contending for the MORE championship this year, I'm not even in the top 5, barely finished the 1st race, and DNF'd the 2nd. Seems like everything is working against me. haha

hey atleast someone is willing to step up and throw down!

you're right dan, no results = no bragging rights. but having results for years and years against guys like the beaters isnt much more either. or the fact you have been racing since most of your competitors were in jr high does give you an advantage i would say. i wish i started getting in to trucks now that i am 27 cause i have more money and more knowledge on how to do it right. back when i started half lap, i was 20-21. your now old, racing against a bunch of young kids. you have done it WRONG so many times, you have figured out how to do it RIGHT. your infinite wisdom will prevail some times, but not always, and i hope that that day, i bring you down! im still a fan dan, no matter what class you race! which is why i will put my foot down and bring it at the next race! its a race to get our shit boxes back together!

What do I run on my truck that puts me ahead of the Beaters? Bolt on kit stock V6 should be nothing to fear correct? Most of my competition has always had more than that. Just like your win at Elsinore... You could say the same thing. Who got second? Did anyone currently considered "fast" show up? Have they won any races before or after you beat them? I put it on the podium race after race against the fastest in the class.

As for Me and how long I have raced.. I was 29 years old when I entered my first race as driver of record. I didn't have a ton of racing experience before that as even a co driver. I won my first race then had a handful of DNFs the following season(Hence the name DNF Racing). You young kids bodies should be able to take a much harder beating than mine. That is why I smirk and talk half the trash I do. You guys should beat me, but you don't. Guess the old man still has a bit more in the tank than the average 20-25 year old racer today. If I raced when I was younger(teen to early 20s) I would have been unstoppable. But I wasn't so now, I just have to settle for another spot the podium if I can't make it all the way to the front. Hopefully the new powerplant gives me the extra 10-15% performance gain that the truck has been lacking for years to get me up or past the select few that outrun me on the straightaways. There is no worse feeling than standing on the throttle for all it has on a long straight and watching someone pull away because of nothing more than having more hp. Guess we will see where it goes now.

As for you Sean... I am always looking for that good race. Neck and neck with someone fighting it out corner after corner and lap after lap. In the past Herrera and I have had many of those races before he sold his trucks. If you think that race could be with you now, then BRING IT!!! You know I will be there looking for it. You might even have a decent shot as my shock tuner lives too far away to make it out for testing so Me dialing my own shocks is a def learning curve but I will figure it out over time. Good times!

Age is wisdom none the less, and starting racing at the seasoned age of 29 definitly puts you in a better position in life in general, to accomplish your goals. its easy now for someone my age to get what you had out of the 1st baja shop ranger you had, but to have a truck as dialed (besides your bolt on front end) as your current one would take much more experiance of knowing how NOT to do it wrong. You have made your mistakes and no matter how you skin it, you learned from those and it made you better, made your truck last longer, and put you on the podium time and time again. So what im getting at (and i really hope you dont mind my informality when i type, im too lazy to be proper for DR at the moment), but what im saying is it took me a lot longer to realize the error of my ways because i was too young and stupid and overly excited to be part of what 1450 WAS when it was growing at that crazy rate. i will say that now when i reach the seasoned age of 29, when i hit the track, i KNOW i will be much more prepaired than ever before and confident in my truck, prep, and myself.

I too hope that my truck will get the 10-15% more that i need to not get out run as well, my truck has forever worked well because of the time i learned by the seat of my pants, how to tune (if i spent that time learning how to prep, maybe i'd of shown some better results). but now i hope i can hang and not get shut out because again, my truck is under powered. I look forward to getting on the podium, and know that given the chance, me and you can put on a show, we've never failed to deliver!

And you KNOOOOOW my whole gig dude, Greg G got me started on it when i was 19, we can make MAJOR headway when you buckle down and let me come work with you! i want to beat you fair and square!!

If there is one thing you can take from what I say it is that slower is faster in most cases. Anyone can go into a corner so hot that the truck is on the verge of going for a bad ride, but I will pass right by just cruising coming in a little slower and leaving faster. I don't care who is on my ass coming into a corner or rough section, because I know they won't be there as I exit either one. Slower is faster.
