Default have a few easily answerable questions....

what length shocks are people running for the front and rear? based on running 4" over front arms and 3x3's.

related question.....anybody see a problem with running 2.5" shocks in the front? only concerned about valving, i know a bigger shock is better for shock fade, only care about valving issues

What spring rates are typically being run front and back? i'm assuming dual rate in rears, what about for the front? would it change with a 2.5" shock compared to 2"?

    Thanks in advance.

Depending on how the car is layed out and whats on it, spring weights can vary a lot....... Your best bet is to hold off on buying springs till the end when you can weigh it.

I run 250/300 on the front but can get away with 250/250 with a longer spring. If you run dual front shocks, many cars run even less, like 200/200. In the rear I am running 300/550 but I have my coilovers mounted way up the arm so there is more leverage. For a single coilover mounted near the end of the 3x3 your rates will be lower.

Like PB said, until you set it up, springs are going to be hard to know. And even then I have like 10 pairs of springs laying around!

ok right on, thanks then, that at least gives me a ballpark idea of what i'll end up going with. I'm planning on extending the front 8" forward with the 4" longer arms and then the 3x3's. i'm trying to keep this somewhat comfortable for the street but building under race specs if that makes any sense at all.

Does anybody know any real major reason why I'd want to go with a 12" shock over a 10" in the front?

you're awesome, i was thinking a 10" but wasnt sure. I'm the type of person that starts out building something for fun and ends up racing later so i'm trying to do what a racer would do for most of this build... we'll see how it goes cause i havent looked into all the rules for classes and i'm sure the way i want to build this will end up making me have to run a class where this wont be very competitive in but whatever, i already spoiled myself with my last build, its time for a budget build now

Sounds to me like you are building my car. With 8" forward beam and 3x3's you will have less than 105" wheelbase so you will be class 5 unlimited, class 12 and class 13 (sportsman) legal. What motor will you run?

sound pretty similiar to my car also, im runing 10" front shocks with 225/250 on the front (coilover only) and the rear is 14" coilover with 300/400 and a 16" 2.0 double bypass
