I would've done it in the first place but the small detail about how I was deployed for 8 months this year including some time last yr was the deciding factor.

It was mentioned by someone that had been taken also, about how his fab guy atleast never took any of his parts....same goes for mine. Picked up the uprights and 2.0 snouts yesterday. I have to admit, he does have fab skills....thats evident. Business and customer relation side is where he came up short

Your snouts should locate themselves on a shoulder in the upright. A machined recess on the mounting plate, Iy should not souly rely on the bolts.

Did some more work...Im gonna begin working on the a-pillars and mid rails but have some questions. I need some input from experienced people on how to go about tieing the front bulkhead to the lower and mid rails. Should I change anything about the side/mid rails in the passenger compartment and how does one mount the seats. SHould the be parallel...like how they sit on the floor un mounted of should they be tilted some? Any input will be helpful.
    Finishing up the lower rails

I built bulkheads for the front joints for strength.

Playing with different ways to do the a-pillar and roll cage. Debating whether I should make the a=pillar either one piece with the cage or seperate and have the mid rail sit on the a-pillar and then build the cage onto it. *note*, the mid rail will be one piece with a bend...not 4 tubes welded at a point. Also, could I lace it with 1 1/4 .095" instead of using 1.5" for everything?

Any MS paint experts want to draw pretty lines to help me tie in the cage.

Figured out the cage dilemma. Where can I get the long as hardware for the spindle? Can't find it on Kartek's website.

Tilt the seats back a little but not much. Make them on sliders too.

hey sorry that happen butt like everyone say you never know what kind of fab person they are in till they get done or maybe see what kind of work they do.if is not going to fix any thing i would try to get parts from him or pipe to finish your car ..but for nuts and bolts and washer i would go to mc fadden dales in corona and they have a lot other stuff you might need.

Did a few changes over the weekend. I'm going to make the a-pillar seperate to the rollcage if the situation should arise I ever have to replace the rollcage, can be done so easlier then if it were one piece.

This weekend I began standing up the a-pillars and added bor lacing to the floor rails...IDK what to do about the front clip, I will more then likely cut it off, sell it and take it to a shop for a new one after the new year.

No, just going to start over on the frontend since this wasnt what I wanted and wont work with the parts I have. I cant sell my parts for what Im asking to replace them with parts that will work with this. Easier to just sell it and get a new one built.

    Little more progress.

Even had the wife helping out and learning how to clean off notched tubes.

Getting a feel of what the wheel base is and track width....also just wondering what it' gonna look like.

LOL, tried 2 times to tack weld all of the bars and with welder problems and pretty much knocking myself out the second time when I got Rodney King'd by my car....I finally got everything lined up and tacked so I can start removing the body. Oh, Im hacking off the rear section and re-doing that bit as well.

Thx for the compliments. No real updates, just watched the wife hack off the rear cage. I should've bought a car that was stock...or a built one....or had a fab guy do his part so I wouldnt have so much to do.

    Plan is to

    - Cut off the stock frame horns also, 5X6 trailing arms, rebuilt the rear cage, mount the shocks more traditional, and tilt the powerplant 7-10*. Just trying to finish all of the tube work before I leave so my friend can figure out the front end and weld the whole car for me while Im gone. I have 1 1/2 months to finish my end of it if it has any hope to be a roller before I leave.

They are chromo tube/plate at the hubs, TIG welded by D&D Fabrication out of San Diego. (Same shop that won The Mint 400 in Class 12). I'll probably sell them with the CNC rear brakes with 930 stubs and 19" SAW 300M axles..

Mounted the trans with an 8* tilt, need to make the forward mounts. Tacked up the c-pillars, need to add more lacing. I can remove the body now though to begin final welding and send it off to a local shop to complete the front end and the rear shock placement.

use sand paper or something less abrasive on those tubes so you dont grind so much metal away. And there is no point in keeping a stock pan and torsion housing. It WILL come apart and so will the rest of the car if left in place. Everything else look s legit. Awesome that your chick helps you. Good chicks are worth their weight in gold.

Will do, I m using a flapper disk, 800 grit currently. I kept the pan mainly because Im going to be driving my car on the street and wanted to keep the VIN. Besides, I'm not using anything off of it as structural. The housing stayed mainly because I dont have the time right now to cut it out and nor do i know the first thing about setting one up and at what angles. If I did remove it, I would want true a-arm trailing arms too. Thx for the positive words, its cool she helps me every now and again. I know she had enough of waiting on Gabriel as did I. I can't believe Im where I am with the car when he had a year and a half!!!

I've added more supports and moved it out of the garage for the first time since that "fab" guy gave me my car back. I ran into some interference issues with the throttle body and a tube which required to get cut out and re-bend another.

A few more supports and then it's off to a shop to attempt to salvage as much as possible on the front end and complete the cage.

You should talk to jake johnson of Jake johnsons fabworks in anaheim, he's done some work on a few of the better cars on this forum and a million other race cars. He really understands a arms and if what you have can work he will make it work. On top of that he gives you a pretty close ballpark on hours to complete the job before you give the green light.

I'm going to give him a PM on some parts I need.

Here are possibly the last pictures for awhille...Im heading overseas again in about 2 weeks so Im getting as much little shit, tabs in as I can.

Mounted the gas tank. I wasn't to sure about how to mount it or if there are rules about how to mount it. Hopefully this will pass inspection.

latest update, took it a shop to get the front end issue dealt with (cut off), and started over. Picked up some pro-am/SU 930 microstub hubs, having 7X5 boxed arms made by Mosebilt Off-road in Monteclair and now just need 14/16 co's and bypasses...tax return came in so shopping will commense.

Lesson learned, DON'T TAKE YOU PROJECT TO AN EMPLOYEE OF A SHOP AND HAVE IT DONE AS A SIDE PROJECT!!!! Does not mean it will be done right or you won't get fucked! Just deal with the shop exclusively and have everything in writing.
