    Default Fuel Pump

I need to get a new electric fuel pump for my bug, i had a little square purolator pump before. I noticed there are tons of different pumps available now. What is the best set up now? I am liking the pump and filter in one, any help

I ran faucet for a long time and loved it. It finally died on my old bug and I had to buy one from autozone to get me home...well I still have that one from my first bug, on my new one. Damn thing works amazing. I have a spare in my pit box, but it suprized me for sure.

It has a tiny inline filter, but I run a second filter as well.

Ok plumber thinking here. Does anybody with a VW run pumps/filters redundant with manual shut off valves on each end to switch over nice and quick if you have a failure? Or is this not an often occurring problem and you just keep one in a pit box like Pahl was saying? Thinking about this because I may relocate my pump/filter as it is very difficult to get to.

Also how often do you check your fuel cell foam. I know Zac even checks his mid race. haha

Marland in all the years I've been off-roading I personally havn't had any issues with fuel pumps or filters ETC. That said, everyone I know that races trucks runs two pumps to quickly switch them. If money were no issues do it! I am not that worried about it. If I have pump issues I am just not winning haha.

We run 2 pumps but only have plumbing/wiring to one. The lines and wires can switched over in about 2 minutes. We have a shut off valve about a foot away, right on the other side of the filter.

Right on, mite as well since you have to switch the wiring anyway. Trying to make things as easy as possible with no co driver to help out yonder.

We run the Holley Red pump with a separate inline serviceable filter. They are a bit pricey but we have never had one fail. Worth the $$$$$ IMHO

Marland. Some guys will wire both onto a 2 way switch so they can switch from one pump to another. They would also have a "Y" in the fuel line so the fuel could go either way and back together. Then driver could make the stwich from the cockpit. If I was doing it again I would do it this way.

With the facet pumps , you can run them online. I use a threaded pipe union between the 2 pumps. Makes things easy.then mount both on one tab.
Use the on off on switch like Kevin said.
If you use a Y with the facets u will need one way valves.
Also use facet brand( aircraft spruce). I have problems with others.

Thanks Fourstroker do you run a regulator or with that pump? I noticed it runs between 7 and 4 PSI, is there adjustment on the pump or is a regulator required? Thanks

FACET ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS from Aircraft Spruce
Here is a link to the pumps . THere are a few different psi options. With the right one you will not need a regulator.

I do run a regulator with a gauge. We usually run between 2 and 2.5 psi. Jake is right with the facets also
