my front beam is extended about an inch or two.

the kybs really dont ride that bad. alot of mild bajas use them.

If your tank is still up front. In a Manx with no weight up front they make it ride like a cement truck. Can't wait to swap mine out.

i ran them on mine with a stock beam and arms for a while and they worked better than i expected, if ur gonna run them on the rear run at least 2, i had a single on mine and it bottomed out all the time.

yeah i run duals in the back. they get the job done, but they arent a shock you can beat on forever. On my baja trip the fronts never faded and took the whoops great, however the rears faded after long stretches. Im slowly upgrading to 7100's all around.

    got fronts so far.

question: why does my camber fluctuate so much? just pushing it around the driveway my front tires can go from real negative to a little positive.. Is it anything to worry about.? is anything worn out? is this normal?

just throwin it out there. doesnt seem to affect anything.

Ill try to get a pick up,

How well does dual shocks ride in the back? I am considering adding another set to mine, but I drive it everyday. Its is ridiculously rough or not too bad?

mine is not rough at all. It also depends on your rear torsion bars and if you have your rear notched for higher ride height.

I have the short sway away torsion bars in the back, but i need to lift up the rear a notch or two.

got all the bugs (and exhaust leaks) taken care of. Picked up a vdo turbo gauge and the vdo tubing kit for no hassles. I took it around the block a couple of times. Got it up to 4 psi in 2nd gear. Dont know the rpm cuz i have no tach, but.....................TURBOS are awesome. Hopefully i get a video sometime this century.

picked up some 14" bilstein 6100's from member on here. Figured it would be a good upgrade over the kyb's.

So i started doing the rear cage to accomodate my new longer shocks.

it was a six point cage. The body is still attached. they arent welded 100% around on the tops, its more like 95%.............I will get it 100% one way or another.

    nice looking bug. coming along.

if you are going to have alot of weight in the back i would sugesst putiing another 2.0 or a singal 2.5. i have a cell in the rear of my bug and a sigal 2.0 dosent really work well in the rough suff. im in the process of adding another 2.0 in the rear of mine. ill post pics when im done.

thanks. Ive known that all along. I dont have a lot of room to mount the lower shock mounts as is. it will be much easier when i upgrade to 3x3's. Im gonna see how the rear does with the single 2.0. I will have my toddler in the back sometimes, and thats it. the tank is still upfront.

cut and installed 4 new leaf packs into my beam, to replace the sagging ones. Added some new bushings between beam and arm.

Overall, i gained 2 inches of ground clearance and my arms arent parallel to the ground anymore!! the leaf packs were free and its a good temporary fix.

getting the bug ready to take it down during the 500.....

painted most of the cage and rear arms. Took off the drums and brakes and found a broken spacer............idk how it broke, but good thing i found it now.

    Mounted the 6100's ( or 7100's ) idk what they are.\

installed wheel studs in the rear, so much easier to do tire changes!!

and finally got my bilstein stickers

i got 3700 for it. I wasnt dying for money, its just not the right time to have 3 toys. There is alot of competition for bugs right now too, but it went to a good home i think. A dad bought it for his 16 yr old son, to tinker on and drive a little bit.

I learned alot from building that baja. I felt it would just be easier to start from a clean slate then start hacking up that one and redoing it. Or........buy a race ready one someday..
