I came into this world naked, screaming and covered in someone else's blood, I plan on leaving this world the same way.
I like the kiddie seat in the back...how can I save it? It wont let me. Whats the story of the one on the trailer (red a-arm)?

Nice collection. if u have more, post them in here & i will try & host them
i have lots of ?'s about parts collection
Not knowing much about VW's, where is the best place to look for parts. i dont really know what is high end and what isnt and from the prices im seeing on line i cant imagine the what im lookin at for 6 inch Wider w/10 inch C/O towers for $259 is considered high end. is there anything special that i need to look for and what to avoid when buyin parts like this. same ? goes for the rear arms.
what size beams and rear arms do u guys think are on that white bug above?
what spindles should i be looking for?
i dont plan on racing, but i want to build it as strong as i possibly the 1st time.
The white one above had 5x5s and a +10 beam with +4 by +2 training arms with the front beam moved forward 7 or 9 inches. I know the new owner redid the entire bug so he can be legal class 5. The spindles were "king kongs" from fodrill.
where do i find 10 over beams. all i can come up w/ is 8 over. will that 2' make any diffrence, or will it hurt it more in 2 track
to be honest, im not even sure what 10 over beams would put the track width at
can anyone help me with the ?'s in post #9
my bone stock bug was 58" wide front and rear, with stock wheels and donuts. most common used stuff you will find is 6" wider beam and 3x3 trailing arms. I personally found alot of good parts on: thesamba.com, craigslist, and race-dezert. Seems like the parts go fast too.

Looks good Jarret. Good to see my kit went to a good home.
strictly play. lookin 2 spend about 15k total when all said & done, full cage, no class 11 cage, coil over & bipass up front on a 8-10 over beam front end. 14'' coil over and bipass's rear when $ permits.
everythin would be bought off classifieds-no new parts 2 save $.
i found this car on race desert
http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/t...econd&id=10940
and thought it would be a great starter car since it runs, the cage would come out, & the cooler would be moved.
also found this 1- http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/t...econd&id=11032
thought it would be good start, i want something my neise & nefew can learn how 2 drive in & if thy happen roll it no big deal
iif u had these cars-could it be done in my price range
How do you post a pic full size?
You can use www.imageshack.us and use the direct [img] code or photobucket
I really like the first one. Its basically what I started with (but that one is cleaner). Nice motor, clean inside esp the dash. Great car to stat with HOWEVER it is a '68 so its ball joint/swingaxle. When you choose to go LT you will have to convert both. Second one is nice also though.
this one is my g/f''s uncles car but i've been his co/driver since like 06 and helped maintain it and what not lol. it has a 2755 fat motor and a mendeolla trans..all the shocks are 2.5 kings...

My friend with a '59 Baja Bug was reading up on it and found that any vehicle originally registered before '71 is exempt from the fender laws and are not required to have them.
The only current pic I have is of the engine: stock 1600 with Garrett T3 turbo, MegaSquirt EFI, 5.0 Mustang throttle body and injectors, and "custom" 3 inch exhaust after the turbo. Thing hauls tits when it's running right, has it at 15psi right now, and rips around town on the street. The offroad pics are at a local spot, from back when he was on garbage dual Kadrin (sp?) carbs and swing axle tranny, now has a '70 something Super Beetle trailing arm one. He needs to redo the cage, but it has Sway Away 2.0 resi's in the front and Fox dual bypasses in the rear.
would you say well worth doing the turbo on the 1600..??? i just picked up one from the bugorama for CHEAP, but havent seen many 1600's with turbos... i cant wait!!

anyone know who owns my old car? you would know it by the rear cage work, only car like it.

We did a tuning run just a couple days ago on 50/50 race gas and 91 octane, pulls like crazy, managed to get it up to 22psi as well. Remember, this is on a stock 1600, with only ported and polished heads, and the thing holds together somehow! It's far far faster than a 50 year old lump of German steel should be going, let alone the fact that this is a Baja Bug not a street one, surprises people to see how fast it is and to hear all the whooshing noises.
How much did you pay for it? PM if you want, I know it wasn't retail, but might help with haggling![]()

i picked up my turbo from the bugorama i phoenix. 40 BUCKS. im pretty sure its just a take off from an older chrysler or something. It should give me just enough extra power when i need it.

Wow, that is a pretty good price.![]()

The Volvo Garrett T3's are $60 and a couple hours of blood, sweat, tears, cursing, more blood, puke some motor oil EVERYWHERE, more cursing, and you just might have the exhaust manifold and turbo in hand. Then have fun with the stupid 12 pt through bolts into the turbo, couldn't crack those before the yard closed and had to pay an extra $20 for the manifold to a stupid car I don't even have. There's probably an better way to do it, and the experience we have from the last time would help, but the Swedes made darn sure that the turbo and manifold wouldn't part with the car easily.
When did you buy that? Did you get rid of your four seater?
Mike
