Thread: 7200 Advise?

ive got the goddys dash heads on my truck now ( and still run pump gas ) it pulls decent power. i put those on about 2 years ago and ive changed to a stand alone engine management. still have the stock bottom end. ive put a turbo 400 behind it and havent had one problem with that trans, down side is it took some hp away. with the 5 speed it pulled 300 hp and 355 ft at the rear wheels. i dont know what it pulls with the turbo 400 . im building a chevy v 6 for the truck right now so if your interested in my toyota engine hit me up.

How much are you looking to get for it?

barry, i take it your only gonna race the tacoma inbitd then? race the cls1 in score or no more score for you?

not sure what where doing next year for the class one yet. need to get andy some more seat time in it and the taco is going to run bitd and probley the baja cup races at glen helen.score for right now is a no go, unless we can get some dinero to run out there. trying to get the most bang for the buck. i think andy is going to run alot of the more races and maybe a couple bitd at the end of the year.

cool, Its always pretty rad seeingthe tacoma out running. but with the chevy engine and toyota emblem it wont be legal for class 6 or any other score race unless you change the emblem

anyone dare to run a pushrod 4.0 or is there no way to be competitive in 7200 without atleast a sohc motor?

upgrade the top end, port the heads, bigger valves, a good RV cam with a big bore TB and spacer, intake, headers, and youll probably be faster than the SOHC motor for the price of the new engine.

hey Barry who is building your motor. im haveing a 4.3 built by a guy in AZ. hopeing to get around 350 to the wheels on pump gas.

I am debating on what motor to use for this, I can't decide on a 4.3 and a tubro 400 or something else. I just feel the 4.3 wont be enough hp to stand up to the kroyer 5.0 500 hp motors.... Any input on this?

I have been thinking about buying greggs motor and building it but it will still only bee 300-350 hp which doesn't seem like a lot when I have a supercharged toyota with 250-300 with a manual not a power robbing tubro 400.

buy my motor its cheap and buy a 4l80e trans. or better yet buy my engine and start reasearching manuals there are direct bolt ups for the 4.3L

i was researching manuals for a little while just didnt want 3 pedals in my truck since it was going to be a prerunner not a full race truck.

or run a turbo 350, 700r4, or there are lots of options for transmissions

Just remember horsepower doesn't win races!!

^^^ no but it sure helps....
A 4.3 with a tremek would give you a large powerband and a much more driveable truck compared to an automatic, you get mode gears to chose from and get way less heat and power lose threw the trans
