Thread: 2009 crf 450

I'm thinking about buying one I went to motoworld today and talked some prices. I got them down to $5600 otd.

Anyone have a 09? I was looking at the 09 yamahas also but they are not fuel injected and I really want a bike with fuel injection simply because that's where the future is headed.

Any input?

Damn! Nice price... No comment on the bike itself but man that's a great deal on a brand new bike!

Are the '09 CRF450's fuel injected now? I don't really keep up with the new bike updates.

For that price on any modern brand new bike I doubt you can go wrong, carb'd or injected!!!

(On a side note, I'm on my 2nd ownership of a brand new bike from a dealer and I don't think I'll ever do it again. I could've bought a bike a year old already heavily modified to my liking for half the cost and been in the same boat. Just a hindsight thought...)

It is a really good deal, but I actually fun bike center can do a little better. That's what I'm hoping for. I would really like to buy a used bike that has everything I would like to do done already but I plan on financing.

I'm not sure I need the new bike right now. I have an 06 and it's got a fresh motor I get the motor back Wednesday. But I feel like it's time for a change...lol

damn good deal i got my 09 3 weeks ago for 5800otd. i rode it today at the track the powerband is rediculous and it pulls really hard. the track had a mix of snow, mud and hardpack and it was spinning 90% of the time but still rideable. zero suspension tuning and i was clearing all but one of the jumps at the track. the steering dampner is good out of the box but it needs to be a little stiffer. the gearing is good for the track but i think youd need to get a smaller rear sprocket for the dez.

my buddy has an 09 didnt have a sigle problem with it so far. loves it. but its not a dezert bike withthat what is 1.5 gallon fuel tank.

he rides his 06 crf inthe dezeret. i might buy a 2010 crf with inthe year for the track.

ide buy a 10 befor a 09. how ever ide never own a 09 for reasons ide rather not get into. because half the people on this site dont ride them hard enough for the reasons to be seen.

i have heard the horror stories of the 09 and my buddy who rides his weekly is a very good fast rider. plus he lets our other buddy who has qualified for the ngith show more then a hand full of times flog it around the local tracks. ican only say that his particualr bike has had no problems

does your buddy who has made the show race a honda? if not i dont think he would make the night show on a 09. its not so much the motor. its more of a whole package issue. geometrey and flex sucks ass, the motor is 2strokeish, the suspension sucks. even with all the factory backing in the world the 09 could not compeat with the other bikes. also why it did not win bike of the yr.

kawi won in all 3 departments. 09-10 kawi has a motor from hell. if you guys think the 09 honda has a motor, ride the 09-10 kawi. then u get good geometry, suspension ans motor. the 10 honda is leaps and bounds ahead of the 09 honda.

by giving that reference i ment he rides a bike hard and knows how to ride. he hasnt made or attempted to race supercross in a few season i think. for 99% of us on this site asking for advice we could never and will never be able to out ride what any bike could give us imo.

You can actually get them down a little more than that. Honda made too many 2009s and had to nearly give them away just to start making room for the 2010s. In a few months they are going to be doing the same thing to the 2010s. So if you want a 2010, i would wait, they will go down to the $5K's as well. And you will see the 09s at almost the same price, but still in the $5Ks. Who knows, a few Az dealerships may have the 09s in the high $4K range.

Just to mention too, a friend of mine picked up 3 2009s 2 months ago for $5100 each in Az. Im sure they gave him a package price, but its something to think about.

Along with TWMX and Motorcycle USA's '09 Shoot out. Rode the hell out of mine and never had an issue. I converted it to Showa suspension though...

Anyone know any word on if the 450x's are gonna get FI anytime soon

x2 before the 450 i had a XR400. this feels like my old big wheel 80 the way i can throw it around, doesnt hurt that im 230 lbs either tho.

my guess would be next year. but the FI is touchy at low 1st gear speeds. need to get it remapped to fine tune it.

I finally got this back for my 06 today. So I'll be content for a little. Until I can get my hands on a 09/10 bike!
