just have one of us garage fabbers weld up the frame and gusset it. unless the kit is cheaper and u have access to a welder. bike looks badass, id ride it

Did you buy the quad? 5K is too pricey
We suggest calling jd jetting and asking then what they recommend for your exact application. Do you know it the top end has ever been apart? Mainly so we can find out if its stock compression. Chances are it is all stock internals, put a plug in it and ride it around for a bit. Check the color and if shows brownish your fine, if there is no color at all you have a jetting issue. Also if you want your header to stop glowing red that much dont let it idle for so long, and if your rev-tuning it at the same time yes the header will get very hot very quickly. When your motor is idling your main jetting has NOTHING to do with it turning red, 450's have a higher idle rpm range and if you think your jetting is off on your idle circuit which if it doesn't have a lean bog when you hit the throttle chances are your pilot jetting and accelerator pump are pretty close and you can make small adjustments use the pilot screw located on the bottom of the carburetor. A base setting for your pilot screw should be about 1.5-2 turns out and if i remember correctly the 450's came with a 42 as a stock pilot and we always changed them to a 45 or 48 depending. Also two more HUGE thing you need to stay on top of:
1. EVERY season do a full cooling system flush and always use ENGINE ICE or WATER WETTER they need all the help they can get in the cooling department.
2. the cylinder head bolt closest to the exhaust header WILL COME LOSE!. I have seen this happen one multiple occasions, i suggest once a season have the head bolt torque checked. what happens is with that bolt being so close to the exhaust the constant heating and cooling and harmonics of the engine over time allows that bolt to come loose and the head with start to vibrate and eat up the head gasket and possibly ruin the cylinder and the head its self.
just a few thing to look into that can save you money in the long run! if you have any other question feel free to ask!!
Btw im selling my gf 450 is been riddin 4 times and maintained better the factory specs.... just saying $4500

Every 4 stroke will have a red header. Only way to really tell if the bike is running lean is to ride it, bog off idle and popping on deceleration mean it's lean. As for gas filling everything its most likely a stuck float in the carb. If the gas started to turn it could of caused the float to stick in too high of a position and allowed it to flood everything. Tap the float a few times to loosen it, then spray carb cleaner all around that and the needle. That should clean it out, check to make sure the float is at the right level(pita) and the reassemble and make sure gas doesn't go everywhere.
5k doesnt seem like a bad price for what it has in it. LT, shocks, bars, stem, wheels... it really is a nice quad. only reason i wouldnt buy it is if the frame is more tweaked than what you're seeing right now (cracked pillar). if the pillar screws with steering, i also wouldnt get it. but like fleshwould said, have someone straighten it back up and weld her up. one thing to remember to tell the person welding is that they have really thin frames (much thinner than truck tubing lol) so to be fairly conservative with the settings. i just burnt a little through my sister's kx80 frame, redoing a ripped silencer mount. buy the quad, do the gusset kit like you said. motor mounts are easy to do, chain is easy to do, valve adjustment is easy (of if you take it to a shop, theyll charge about two hours to do the job. one hour to disassemble the bike to inspect/measure valves, and another hour to adjust and reassemble. the good thing about this quad is that the motor is stock besides and intake exhaust. you know it hasnt been opened (except maybe valve jobs), and replaced with some wazoo parts. stock is most reliable, and probably faster than you or i will ever need
