    Default What's it worth?

I have a friend looking to get rid of a 2000 RM125 for DIRT CHEAP. All it needs is a fresh topend and fork seals. It's got a brand new Hinson clutch and basket. I'm just wondering if I should snag it from him and what would be a reasonable selling price? I'll be in it maybe 475 bucks in the end.

    Thanks guys!

12 year old buck and a quarter? I'd give him $500 delivered.

Ok, maybe I worded that wrong. If I invest this 450 bucks into it, what would I be able to sell it for once it's running all said and done? And sorry, it's in Texas.

Thanks for the quick responses though!

i have found there is no such thing as a free lunch, usually there is something else that needs to be taken care of too, but you never know until you buy it, and i'd say breaking even could happen if you get the right buyer but more likely you'll lose a bit in the long run. that's why i just keep all the bikes i get for cheep and fix(build up the toys at your disposal for when other shit breaks or if you have a +1 on a ride, or a bike just to fuck around on)

I would have to agree with the first responses. I'd say $400-500 at most. Who knows what that cylinder looks like when you get it off and 125's are going pretty cheap right now.

A top end & fork seals on a 125 Jap bike shouldn't be more than $200-$250 in parts.
    Ranger is gone.
But I got a Silverado for a new project.

Yeah, I priced it out. 300 for the bike, and 150 for the parts. Even selling it for a grand or 900 would make me happy. It's still a 200% return. And I'm sure I can get a good look at the cylinder before I commit. I just wanted to know what I should realistically be expecting. Thanks

edit: also keep in mind, this is the Texas market, not the California market. Bikes really aren't a dime a dozen here. Haha.

For a bike to ride? Yes its worth it. If you buy it and fix it for a bike to flip? No.

AS im sure tex1493 knows, with a bike that old it is cheaper to part it out than to sell it. Even in running condition. But thats if you want to put in the time and work.

Oh.....I thought you meant you were going to sink $475 into it after you bought it to fix it up.

If you are into it close to $500, you might be able to make a couple hundred on it. If that's worth your time, then go for it.

well, I've got a 125 already and it's the best bike ever, but i need cash to pay off my 250. gotta spend money to make money right? even if it's only a couple hundred bucks, that a couple hundred more than I've got. I think I'm going to go for it and sell it for maybe 900-1000
