In the middle of a full tear down and race prep on mine as well. New parts list: Top end with Kibblewhites, rebuilt/revalved suspension, all new bearings everywhere, chain and sprockets, tires, Shorai battery, pegs, brake pads and rear rotor, anti seize and loctite on all hardware, and a thorough cleaning. Gonna be sweet.

Hello motorcycle enthusiasts. I plan on getting a dirt bike again, I'm here to get some info and opinions on a future purchase of mine. First off, im unsure which path I plan on taking. Either going to save up and buy an older 2 stroke (open to 125 or 250) or sell my truck and get a plated bike. Basically want to know what bikes to stay away from, what are some of the best for the money, and what id expect to pay. I'm 5'6" 160lbs, rode a rm85 in my younger years and up until a few months ago had a built xr50. Also curious as to how difficult it is to get my motorcycles license and what bike insurance costs for a 20 year old male. Thanks in advance, Sean.

Get a plated bike, it's the best of both worlds. Out in the desert, you should have plenty of XR600Rs, and 650Rs available. For what you weigh, you might want to start with a plated XR400 to test the water. It still has enough torque and power to move you- but not so much that you're out of control.

Had my little girl help with the install =)

Take the spode sticker off your shock body.

Use a small propane torch to heat it up a little- just don't get crazy with it and it'll come off by hand. Use rubbing alcohol to clean it after, not goof off. Just let the body cool off before you put alcohol on it.

Ill have an update on my 125 soon, as soon as i get my motor back from a machine shop/ builder.![]()

hopefully ill have an update on the kx80 im cleaning up. i threw a new top end in it, just waiting to find someone to sandblast the swingarm and frame then i can lay on some paint
Harbor Freight makes a nice little sandblaster, and it's pretty inexpensive too.
RIP Andrew Martinez
like the cheap plastic one like this?
Portable Abrasive Blaster Kit
or one of the metal ones?
Pressurized Sand Blaster
20 Lb. Capacity Pressurized Abrasive Blaster
the 20# is probably more than enough for the small frame and swingarm
The $70 will pay for itself after 2 or 3 projects.
RIP Andrew Martinez
ill talk it over with my pops. we have a friend with a machine shop that could do it, but it wouldnt be a bad idea having one around the house
Couple minor things done so far, waiting on graphics now.
