whats up with katie...
see below
thanks dude!
traded my dh bike frame for an 8.8 with 4.10 and a LS yesterday. went this morning to a JY to pull disc brake goodies off, so now my new axle will have discs instead of drums. i want to do the super 88 kit down the road, and it only works on disc axles. plus i was going to put new drums/discs/pads/shoes on any axle i got, so i figured i might as well throw discs on it. now i'm just waiting for the call from brandon to bring my truck in to get everything put together.
Are you running the stock hangers and shackles still with the Deavers? Now that I think about it did you mentioned you got your drop hangers on? I'm an idiot... Anyway.
Let's see some updated pics of the bitch!!! Errr, beast! Lol.
drop hangers and extended axles went on at the same time as the leaves. no new pics right now, i'll post some up after all her new bolt ons go on her. i need to get some pics of the seats that i got off of aiiraciing from his sport trac too.
Almost every Katie I've met has been hot, don't let me down.

i used to see that thing in the cpp parking lot all the time before i graduated
.
i forgot that i got a package today. 8.8 swap hardware from ruffstuff. sweet titties.
Did you get an explorer or ranger 8.8? sounds like you got a ranger 8.8. do you know how hard it is to convert the drums to discs? Post up specifics and pictures when you do it please, I would love to change my 8.8 to a disc setup. Drums don't stop 33's for shit. And what's the super 88 kit you speak of?
im pretty sure he got an expo rear end because the ranger rear end is bolt on.
dezert dreamin is right, its out of an explorer sport trac. the swap isnt hard at all. the only real issue is you have to pull off the diff cover, remove the center pin from the diff, and then push in both axles so you can take the c clips off and remove the axles. after that, the backing plates unbolt from the axle, and you can take everything. remember to grab the calipers and brake lines, i almost forgot lol. but i found instructions on google for how to remove the axle shafts, then went from there.
why would you remove the axles? Isnt a sport trac a 5 on 4.5 too? Or are you doing a gear swap?
to get the backing plates off the axle tubes, the axle shafts have to be removed. the flange on the end of the axle shafts that has the wheel studs in it is too large to fit through the backing plate for the discs.
how many inches in the front are you strapped at?
this is turning out nice wish i could make progress
got an 8.8 diff cover from ruffstuff, and also finally took pics of the seats/console I got off of aiiraciing/brian from his sport trac.
if only u had the rear doors too... haha
Seats look good, I need to find some replacements seats until my cabcage goes down, is it just in the sport tracs or do any 2000 or newer rangers have the captians/buckets chairs like the ones you picked up?
Hey can you pm me a pic or link with your healdlights spray painted??

Dang I like those seats! Look comfy! Do they sit lower than the stock ones? Not familiar with ranger interiors

eric, stfu about your damn rear doors lol.
i don't believe the rangers come with buckets, i think they're all either a single bench, or a 60/40 split bench up front. explorers and sport tracs have buckets up front, but it's hard to find ones with a solid back or movable headrests like mine have.
i'll just post it here:
yeah they sit a little bit lower than the old ones did, but that's fine with me. not having a tilt column made the wheel get in the way of my knees at bad times.

You have to be the first person ive seen do that, now I want to do it to mine, it looks cool. Is the headlight cover fairly easy to remove? Then what did you do, just taped off the part the bulb and painted away??

i stuck the whole headlight in the oven at 200* for 15 minutes. used a screwdriver and my awesome muscles to separate the clear cover from the half. after that, pretty much masked off the reflector then went to town. i did 2 coats and then removed the tape and the remaining glue/sealant that held the two halves together. i got some clear sealant from lowes, squirted a generous amount around the edge, and squished them back together. it looks good, no condensation inside the housing, and theres no negative effects that i've found.
should i go full kill and long travel it, or keep to the mid travel plan going? it's not going to be that much more to bump up to long travel, especially with used shocks. i have friends with LTDD trucks, and i know Mikey LOVES the mini as hisDD . i just dont want to spend the money to go from MT to LT if I want it down the road. plus the springs for my front end right now are DEAD, so a front kit is next on the list after the rear end is buttoned up
Long travel!

After talking to friends, and using facebook to get feed back, I think I'm gonna get long travel and skip wasting money on mid travel.
Remove the emblem from the truck. Use a hair dryer to heat it up till you can push your nail into the clear part and leave a mark. Peel the clear stuff away from the chrome backing, then use chapstick, a crayon, or some wax to coat the parts you do not want painted, and then mask off the outside edge. After the paint, scrape off the paint in the area that's covered with the chapstick or whatever you used. Now you need to go to a craft store and get pour on high gloss finish, and pour that in till it's level, and let dry. Or if you pay shipping or pick it up, I'll give you the rest of the stuff I got, that can still make at least 2 more emblems. Worth the two hours I spent on it, and was cheaper than any emblem I could find online
LT. i went through all the stages with the runner and ultimately ended up with a burg lt kit.
some people say its a waste of money...i just said opportunities made themselves available at different times and i jumped on em
Save for lt, and jump on used parts. That is my best advice. If you have to buy another truck that doesn't run and swap the parts on to your truck!

yeah its getting long travel. i bought the shocks that vince (a7x_nocturnal) was selling, which are pretty much new for an INSANE deal. Thinking about it, i'd be so close to long travel, but limited by a small 2.0 shock, and coils that will just sag out like the ones on there now. so i might as well spend the money once and deal with myDD having LT and bitches flinging their panties at me as i drive by
people in OC hate those bumpers in parking lots haha. whenever i go down to visit t hats what they usually look at.
nah thats the reason i had the cash to get it built. hit a beemer, needed $$ for insurance deductible, so i sold my downhill bike and had money left over. i miss that bike.
