Thread: Rugged Radios F-150 Prerunner

Alright we just picked up the truck from a guy here on DR. The truck is an 83' Ford F-150 that has a updated front clip. It has a 42 gal. fuel cell that is under the spare tire. It is sitting on 37" BFG Projects with 17" Ultra Bead Locks. The spare tire is a 37"x12.5-15 Goodyear GSA on a 15" Ultra Beadlock. The rear is a D44 I believe with some sort of locker, stock suspension, and wheel spacers. The front is all stock as-well. It has front and rear fiberglass fenders, it is also caged with bucket seats and crow 5 point harness. This will be a fun little shop build. Alot of the truck will have to be rebuilt. We are trying to figure out if we will be Racing this thing or just building to go have fun in, and try to get a hold of one that is clean and hasn't been touched. What should we do?

it looks really clean! i'd do some deavers in the rear with a simple bed cage and remount the spare tire, and a simple kit up front with coil overs, and install all of your com stuff in a new center console that will show off the radio and the intercom. 3 lights on the front bumper, and then vinyl wrap the exterior with your logo all over it. it already looks nice, but it would be cool for you guys to have a truck that can go out and have some fun in when you have some down time at those races you plan on going to.

Too much effort to try and get a mexico truck registered here so you've got the right plan of trying to fins a stock truck and putting the wheels, seats, cell and whatever else you can salvage on it. Hopefully you got it cheap enough that the parts you get out of it are worth while. I made an offer on the truck but all I was goiong to do was part it out and the guy would'nt go low enough to make the numbers work. I'd bet the cab cage is a total scrap/redo...

the truck will be fun to have around but we want to build a 1450 to race. lol on the hunt for a new truck to build.

I was gonna say some deavers and coilovers and it could be fun to putt putt around in! But if you want to race sounds like starting fresh is a good idea. I love A-pilars with 3 bends in them!

Just a little update on the Prerunner build. We picked up a new Holly 600 CFM Carburetor for it. We will be doing a few thing to this carb to make it handle the desert a little better. If you have any idea's for us to do to this thing.

Ditch it and get a dual feed double pumper.

Not much updates we are just trying to get everything ready for the sand sports show next weekend then the build begins.

i acutally like this truck but couldn't afford to buy it and keep mine. ditch the dash for a custom one and do a mild build for a dune runner and mild desert truck.

We haven't had to much time for this this lately due to sand sports show. We are getting everything ready and in place ready to give this thing a face lift.

We are not selling it. I have just got the confirmation from the boss man to order what I need to get it going. We are going to build the truck to a score Class 8 spec and will follow all regulations needed to do so.
