Default 99 ranger build on a budget

Well i turned 16 last year and got into offroad trucks through a buddy. My dad bought the truck in 98 from the dealer and drove it for work. The truck got past down to my oldest sister how drove it for 2 years then to my other sister for 2 years and now to me. I decided to dive into the truck and got it back to stock before i got my licence. I have been gathering parts ever sence. About a month ago the build began. As of now the truck is sitting in my driveway with a brand new 3.0 in it 100 miles on it a dead fuel pump and no bed. As of suspention it has a camburg 5.5 up front and deaver g50s in the rear. I still need shocks im looking for 2.5 10 inch smoothies if anyone has some for sell. Let me know what you think.

Fiqured id bump this old thread and post some updates. Modified the bumper so its more streamline. put in a tool box to hold anything and eveything i could need if somthing goes wrong. Then the truck got broken into in front of a buddies house they stole 800 dollors worth of stearo equpment. i took the truck to pismo and had a blast truck did great the rear is a littlle stiff but the front rides amazing. i got a ticket while i was there. the chp said i was speeding when i wasnt he wrote me for 78 in a 65 when i was doing 55 up the grade. both me and my friend got a fix it ticket also. I got back and went over the truck and reliezed the bumper and hitch were draging so ia6cd8be1-1c5a-4165.jpg pulled the rear bumper and cut up the hitch so it sits much closer to the frame of the truck. right now im waiting on funds for a bedcage and shocks.a6cd8be1-1cbe-228e.jpg

Besides your fluency with written English, and a well thought out build this is the most impressive part of this thread! Right on kid!

One last update i've been doing a lot of cleaning lately mostly of the engine bay i'm happy with how much cleaner it is; it's still pretty dirty but i'd say i've gotten through at least 120,xxx miles of grime of the 210,xxx haha. I love the feeling of poping the hood and looking at a clean and organzied motor covered in mostly useless smog crap.

I hardly ever DD my truck to school as i ride my beach cruiser to school, but my students like to see the truck and what has gone into in the lot.

Haha yeah everyone says the 3.0 is a pile but i've seen a couple making decent power so i have faith and it does everything i ask it to so no complaints.

I'm defanatly staying in school im moving to grover beach in june and going to cuesta for 2 years then cal poly. I would take girls out in the ranger a lot more if there was a place to use it arround here, i usualy just load them up in the Fj40 and take to the cabin up in Pinehurst so the can play in the snow while i see if i can break somthing haha.

I'm taking donations for the rear haha extra tubing whatever you can spare.

Right now im looking for an 8.8 out of and expo to swap in with 4.10s L/S, 32's and some 12" emulsions i like to keep things under the bed rails.

i have a question in the front of my truck im running 2" wheel spacers i check the bearings often and everything seems to be good and tight. Am i going to run into problems later on keep in mind i have very low ofset rims (stock alcoa's) so essentialy its just like running a rim with a larger offset right?

Yea my poor little 3.0 hates life hahah and 2 inch wheel spacers are pretty sketchy they probably wont cause any problems but i would want them off my truck as soon as possible and no i'm pretty sure its a different concept running wheels with a larger offset

i guess i might take then off then idk i like how it fills out the fenders a little better. Another question i have; the rear end likes to buck would moving the shackles back help with this and will it make the pack softer? Ive tried the search but i havnt found anything ill keep looking though.

i don't know if you still have the stock shocks in the rear but if you do you should wait until you get some smoothies or whatever you are gonna get and then see how it rides and if the bucking is still bad then i would consider relocating the shackles

Alright I'm looking to run some smoothies under the bed on some custom mounts so I can keep most of my bed.

As far as cost so far
    Used camburg kit 1200
Deavers and shackles well um 175 (I bought them off fretis he was going to toss them they had one testing trip on them he didn't like them and went to links)
Random stuff like brakes paint and other 150
And in my case new motor 3000
    Rebuilt tranny 1500
    Grand total of 6025

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff but I've dump all my extra money into this truck.

I've had 2 rangers with a 3.0 one a 5sp and one auto. I loved my 5spd that truck would break em loose in 2nd with a smash on the throttle. the auto had issues, but for what it was it ran great. I always hear people hating on the 3.0, but i love that engine.

Truck is coming along nice. looks good.

The deavers are nice for big hits when I first got them they were stiff as hell. I took out 2 leaves and that helped a ton then I put the tool box back there with all my tools and its a lot better still a little stiff but not to bad. You have to remember i just have some pro comp lift shocks back there

    Got any pics?

Did more painting today finished the mounts for the gas cans I'm just going to bolt them down. Also the salty water of the pacific ocean kindly showed me every unpainted part of my truck, needless to say they are now painted. And of coarse pics
