Buuuuuuut you'll get more travel verticallylol
Is there a reason to do one horizontally and one vertically? I figured you either get max steering or max travel and if you mis-match you dont get the best of eirther worlds. Is this correct?

And the amount of travel helps a little bit but If your truck is tuned well then it doesn't really matter the terible herbst truck only had about 12-13 inches of travle and kept up with trucks that had 23" so basically it all comes down to fine tuneing
The Terrible Herbst truck was 4wd right? And didn't it have closer to 18 inches of travel?

Yea it was 4wd but I don't think it was 18". Of travel I'll have to find a video of it it's not that muchOriginally Posted by FutureFabricator

ill be watching this build! looking good so far!
good luck!
watch those snouts once you start running them, keep an eye for cracks and keep the bearings greased real well. also keep the right amount of torque on them to limit this from happening...

BUILD THREAD - http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/dr-rides/150093.htm
yea any updates and curious to how your mounting the cab to the tube chassis
X2 on that i wanna see the progress
so this projects gonna get put on hold.. MONEY is the issue..
the guy with the beam chevy... I'll try to get a pic of this, but I ran a .250 wall tube trough the inside of the snout thru the spindle block and welded it everywhere I could.. basically made the snout a "2 ply" with steel.. make sense? also, theres a company that makes locking nuts for the D44's.. I cant think of it now but google it and they're out there..
As for mounting the cab to the cage... It will be welded directly to the cage in multiple spots. kinda making the whole cab/cage one unit. this way any flex anywhere would move the cab with the cage in unison.. I dont know if this is the preferred method but its my method.
so rather than just not saying anything here... I thought I'd at least let you know it's gotta be put on hold for now....
