    Default 96 chevy

So honestly I'm bored at home unemployed and have been working on my truck so I wanted to share some of the progress. It isn't long travel or anything yet but I'm slowly moving forward. I picked up my new 96 chevy 2wd in early october. It came with a fabtech spindal lift, coils, and upper control arms. 35 inch bfg mud terrains on 15 inch pacer wheels. Also a 2 inch bodylift which I hate. I've always had 4x4s but i was intrigued with prerunners so i decided to start one against all the advise of my buddies. Here is how it sat when i got it.

It had some ripped up leather seats but i did a little trading and ended up with cloth 60/40 seat looks alot cleaner

Also got all new grille shell with billet and new lights.

lmk if you can see the pic im not sure how to post them so they turn out big

Well I noticed the truck rode really stiff when i bought it and it had a lot of positive camber. I just thought it needed an alignment but that wasn't the case. After asking questions here on DR i came to the conclusion that the coils where to big and they made my uca max out. As you see in this big the Upper arm was riding on the coil bucket.

So I decided that i had to cut the coils or install stock ones. But if i did that the truck would lower a good two inches so i either get smaller tires or install glass up front. I know you all hate glass on something without lt but i think it looks pretty cool.

also got a pair of KC lights bolted up front

Yeah 5.7 150K has a good amount of power this is my 5th truck in this bodystyle lol.

Well as you can see it came out decent I had no idea i had to drill out every spot weld on my stock fenders to make this shit work. Now you can see how bad the alignment is.

    Too tall and ugly

Yeah i was tired of it it rode like I had hydros lol. I set out last week to fix the alignment issues i wish i would of taken pics to show the process but oh well.

I cut a full coil off the fabtech coils and took the two inch blocks out of the back

Also replaced the pitman arm because thats the only thing that seemed bad

Before i cut them the UCA was laying on the bucket now theres a good gap inbetween.

I like the look when they're the stock bulge or +1 but they have a little bit of a rise like yours. Truck looks nice man. What are your plans?

Lol, I chopped the bumper off a little just for shits and it looks good.

for a simple mid travel you can do the fabtech/cst mid travel kit(marketed as ultimate long travel) with a 2.0 shock upgrade for the front and if your trying to keep the bed, a cantilever kit could be done relatively simple and keeps the bed clean. thats what i plan on doing to my buddies dodge.

Thanks man! I just set toe because i guess i need new balljoints. I took it to pismo with two quads in the bed and a dirtbike on a trailer. Aired out to about 5 psi and crusied threw the dunes.

I bought a bumper and a spare tire carrier off a buddy in a package deal. So my plan was to sell the spare carrier to pay him off and use the bumper.

Wow, it looks 100x better now. I thinkbtf was working on A kit for your truck. As for the rear, there are plenty of bedcage setups out there that leave plenty of space in the bed, especially since you're not looking for a full blown build.

Yeah I've seen the thread i Pmd him last nite to see what it would run and how long he needs my truck. Its sucks that he's so far away so I'm hoping he can get most done without my truck.

If he has a jig, which im sure he does, it wouldnt take long at all, just depends on if you want him to install but even then he works pretty quick.

^^^^ I agree i would rather have a btf kit if he's doing it for 1500 im game. But i wouldn't mind a used fabtech or cst for 500 bucks either.

that was the holiday special which is now over then factor in install price and its well over 2k im sure. not hating or anything just trying to help a fellow member out. its not a bad kit at all, just has its limitations which are well known(the fabtech kit). as with any kit nomatter what you do ivanhoer, have weld in washers done around the LCA mounts and gussets added to the upper control arm mounts, its a week spot on the frame.

i ended up getting a fabtech kit and a set of aftermarket lift-leaf springs for $450 about 2 years ago.

this is the shock mount i had brandon from BTF build on my old chevy, simple, yet effective and i could fit three dirtbikes in the back ( two 450's, and one 90)

100% false, please don't spew prices if you don't know what your talking about.

PM NODNARB for a quote, he's reasonably priced and what you get for what you pay for is a value.

My front shocks were blow out so I got the bilsteins from camburg (seem like oem replacements to me..same length and everything) and it rides a lot smoother. All I have are bms coils, 5100s and 3" lift spindles. Just food for thought

150 for the bilsteins, 440 for the spindles. Spindles came with a beefier snout and all the hardware so you can just bolt it in and be done.
