ya. i was told 4:88 would be low enough but obviously that person didnt know what they were talking about.. gonna throw some 6.0's if this doesnt sell soon

If you asked again, I'd tell you again that 4:88s are good for a street driven truck on 31's.

What would you say then?

I had 4.10's with 31's in my 5 speed 1994. When I comuted to Irvine in it on the 5 it was just about perfect. I would have liked a little less gearing. Now I have 4.56 and 31's and it is fine for running around town and for the 15 but is to low for the 5 where people haul butt. 4.88 with 31's would be way to low for the freeway. So all this only applies to DD's. But the OP doesn't even have a windsheild so I doubt he is running the freeways.

I had 4.88 in my 4 cyl Taco with 33s and it was a pretty good balance. Off road it would pull 3rd up sand washes no problem and I got it up to 70 a couple times in reasonable RPM on the freeway. Honestly I saw about 2% pavement with the truck so I always wished I had gone deeper but ti would have been nice on the freeway.

being fully caged with no winshield slows it way down on the highway. hard to hit 90. 5th gear has nothing. 5:29s or lower would be nice but since this truck hits dirt 95% of the time I might throw some 6.0s and call it a day

crate motor coming soon and some other much needed updates before this coming desert season!
