thanks, now just to decide to go long travel or mid travel
Lt it will cost u less in the long run
ya, but is LT reliable? I drive 600 miles a week for work, and need it to be as reliable as possible
from what i understand the long travel kit adds tons of strengh and travel there no real down side if you were asking me and from what i hear going from a tbar ifs to a long travel coilover ifs it rides a lot better
their are pros and cons. yes your gonna have more travel and more adjustability from a coilover setup but with that comes more roll from your ttruck in turns and if you want it to not bottom out a lot in the desert your gonna need a stiffer valving which is gonna suck for driving on the road. Its all about what you wanna do though.
well i drive a shitload for work. so its gonna be 80% daily driving 20% weekend fun. I talked to my buddy who is a Ford Mechanic. He told me that with my hubs (pulse vacuum) I can eliminate my 4x4 axles and basically convert to 2wd. That opens up alot of options. Aaron from Dixon quoted me $1500 for axles alone. Now i just have to make the decision to commit to long travel... Or just have MCM build a new upper and lower off my stock spindle and go coil-overs.
Also Long travel kits don't neccesarily add strength. Think about how much stress you put on your truck now with stock width arms and mild offroading. Now think about how much more stress is added on your mounting points when you go 4 inches over and are able to go faster in the desert. The only way a long travel kit is going to add strength is if you plate your frame and plateing has nothing to do with a long travel kit.
***UPDATE***
- Bumper gets powdercoated next week
- Skidplate gets machined next week
So I just picked up my coil-overs today. 6" FOA 2.0 with reservoirs. I've heard bad things about Blue Coils which is what comes on these. Im gonna go with Eibach Springs. So what spring rate do you guys recommend? Like it was mentioned above. This will be aDD for 80% of the time with 500+ miles a week.

I'm running a king 18" 600lb spring on a fox 2.5x8" coil over the front of my 4x4, very happy with the ride on and off road. Good luck, cool to see more 4x4's!

frame is twisted, cab is twisted, core support is wasted, all the headlights need replaced, both fenders and hood are ruined... insurance totaled the truck and wanted 1500 to buy it back. so i got my insurance check and just bought an 01 ranger... off to start another build !!
