    Default 2000 silverado rebuild

the silverado has officially been retired from daily driving so now its time to make it bigger and better. i built this truck to where its at about a year ago, it has front glass blitzkrieg uniball kit, deavers, bed cage, and a few other small things. im gonna tear the truck apart and start from scratch. my goal is to make this truck capable of one day being a race truck but still keep it "street legal". im not planning on building a trophy truck and it may never be in a race but i just want it built rite and to have the option of maybe one day racing it. the initial plan for the truck is boxed and plated frame a full 2" cage deavers, gmr hangers, bumps, one piece clip, 37's, rear glass, fuel cell and upgrade to the blitz lt kit. i already have almost everything for the rear so the main work for now is going to be plateing and cage. im taking the truck to pismo in a week for one last trip before i tear it apart. im sure progress will be slow because i want to make sure i have everything thought out so i build it exactly how i want the first time or second time i guess haha. here are some pics of how the truck sits now. and it doesn't sit all bro like that, i took that picture with the back sitting on the bumps

Nice to see another Silvy getting some love! Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Just curious but why the fuel cell if you're sticking with leafs? Why not link it? Are you running the stock rear end or upgrading?

I'm going with the cell because My plan is to basically build the base of a race truck, I'm planning on getting all that kinda stuff done then once it's drivable The parts like rearend and everything will come as I get extra money. I've been going back and forth on linking it I'd like to and I've been looking into it so I'll just have to see how everything goes.

Nice truck, it was super stuck! Reminds me of when my buddy got his 2wd s10 stuck at pismo and we dug for hours. Big tires, not airing down and not enought horsepower can get you stuck quick if you dont keep momentum up.

I got a little bit done today, I pulled the front end off and the fenders. I'm thinking about plateing the lowers and putting a coilover on for now and starting the engine cage because I'm not exactly sure on the design for the bedcage yet and I'm not sure how long until I start the cab cage so I just need to make some decisions I guess but I have a friend that can powder coat all my stuff so I'm thinking of getting the front end powdercoated and doing the coilover deal and saving some money for the stuff I need rite now like bumps, tubeing and all that stuff. Thoughts? anyways here's some pictures

I would definitely plate the frame first. Also gusset all your arm mounts if you plan on leaving them in the stock location. I already had my lca mount crack and almost fall off.

yea i was thinking today i need to beef up the mounts those things are flimsy! the only reason i was considering not doing the frame rite now is cuz if i do im gonna cut my bedcage off, ditch the bed and get glass. i guess i might as well just do it now though since the truck isn't drivable for a few weeks

Well, I would want all the tube work done first actually. That way all your main structure is attached to the frame, not attached to a plate to the frame. Less likely to rip off.

I finally got some time to work on the truck. I cleaned up alot of wiring that has been driving me crazy not that cool but I'm pretty pumped about it haha also got everything ready for powdercoat and pulled some more of the truck apart. I wired my cb too but it doesn't work, guess that's why it was so cheap. The second pic is stuff to get powdercoated and the last is some of the wiring I cleaned up it was a big knot of wire before.
