those heims give you enough misalignment out at the spindle? looks good, we need to get back in the dirt soon!

They should but im not 100% haha
im ready for another trip i havent been out in a month or so and im starting to itch to get out. Once i get the steering done im gonna try and go out. you heading out anytime soon??
should be heading out to the next more race to volunteer. not sure if ill drive the yota or the ranger out though.
Whens that? Ill be going to king of the hammers for sure just like every1 else most likely haha
Started working on the truck today and was just going to put on the heim steering and next thing i know im pulling everything off of the front end. So far I pulled off my old steering center link and tie rods, took off my passenger side upper arm (the one that got bent and had the weld break) and pulled out the shock on that side as well.
Looks like my upper arm bent together about 2mm so i have to bend it back to get it into the tabs. And as i suspected my shock shaft is bent on that side. Its pretty obvious when i look at it off of the truck. So since im this far in i figured what the hell why not put the bumps on now and have it down for an extra day or two.
Few questions i have
Im going to bump off of the upper arm bolt
Are 2 tubes going to be strong enough to hold on the bump stop? or should i do 3?
And should i weld a bump pad on to the upper arm bolt? or is there enough surface area that it will be ok?
Jan 21 is the MORE Race.
I ran 3 1/8" plates to my bump, wasnt enough. most important thing is to have 2tubes on 2 or more planes, not inline. id shoot for 3 if you can. I welded an 1.5" pad to the top of my bolt just to be safe. thinking about going a little bigger just in case i ever bend an arm or anything i dont risk jamming the spindle bolt into the bump stop shaft.
To answer your earlier question too andrew the heims do clear at droop and bump, there is just enough in them.
I might actually be able to make that ill have to look into it. I should be ready for dirt by then.
Im going to have at least 2, definitely trying to go for 3 then. I picked up some 1.5 120 wall tube today for em i just hope that my bumps fit under the hood and everything haha
Thats a good idea as well i will probably be welding one on to my bolt even tho i dont want to haha
Looks like no bumps for me up front until after the swapmeet. The 4 inch bumps are too long so i either have to
1. limit up my travel by about an inch and bump earlier
2. have my bumps stick out of my hood
3. wait and get some shorty bumps
So im going route 3 haha
I vote option 2.

What bumps. Just take them apart and make them 3" or 2". No need to get new ones. I have had my rear from 2" to 4".

Sullyman they are king 2.0 4 inch reduced to 3. Just like mike said it is too long fully bumped
It was pretty tempting mike im not gonna lie, but ill just pick up some shortys in a month at the swap meet.
Finally got my god damn e brake hooked up and some limit straps in the rear today
Anybody going to the desert anytime soon?
like i said im going saturday. dont plan on doing to much offroading though. truck isnt 100% ready for a beating and i dont want to have it towed home.
I know i cant make it this sat but next weekend im good to go
Ill be going to koh for sure
I got a couple questions on your Xrunner rear end. What gear set did you use and did it fit around the LSD fine? What was the final WMS width? What did it take to mod the driveshaft to fit?
I have the opportunity to buy one for an upcoming project and was wondering if it was worth it.
I bought a nitro gear 4.56 ration on ebay and i had to machine a plate to go between the ring gear and the mounting surface because i could not move the ring gear over far enough with just the shims. So to get the backlash and whatnot right i made a plate to go in between. Basically just made the "useless 3rd" according to some people useful haha. And to be 100% honest about the LSD I don't believe it has one. I know that the xrunners are supposed to have a stock posi but this third looked open to me....and it doesn't feel like there is a posi.
Ill get a measurement tomorrow for you but it is about 3 over per side. There is a pic of it next to the stock on page 3.
For the driveshaft I got a custom one made with a slip in it so I don't kill my center bearing total was about 300 bucks at OC Driveline. It will bolt up if you just drill holes in the xrunner flange to match the smaller diameter toyota pickup pattern. Thats what i did until I got a driveline.

I love my xrunner axle. Also if you dont want to worry about trying to regear the 3rd like I did with a spacer between the ring gear you can buy a complete third out of a t-100 or Tundra
Sweet thanks, that does answer quite a few questions I had. I haven't found too much info on this rearend so I appreciate it.
Yea i was a bit skeptical on it but i got a great deal and couldn't pass it up. I still am not sure how to fix my leak though. Im probably gonna take to to toyota and have them replace my front seal.
really like how the truck looks here. I was originally going to get this model 2wd but at the time I didnt like how low they sit. never new the possilbilties...
PAIZA RIDER
Thanks that seems to be everybody favorite pic of my truck haha
I like both, but i kind of like the style of the older cab like yours a little more. Its hard to say
Few little updates since ive had some time lately
1. Finally put my limit straps on in the rear
2. Finally got to making a bracket for the e brake lines from the Xrunner axle so I now have an e brake. Its amazing how much use it gets and how you realize that after not having one in a stick shift daily driver haha.
3. Aligned the front end with the new heim steering on there
4. Put on locking nuts pretty much everywhere
5. Cleaned up wiring, paint, and other misc stuff
I still need to mount my gas cap thing however.
Andddd i broke my collar bone last week riding my new 450 at starwest. Sucks pretty bad cause I cant work so I have all this time and no money and I cant work on the truck even tho I have all this time... Time to find a job answering phones for a few months...
Couple random pics of when I attempted to put hydro bumps on
and I have a k&n filter for sale cause I need money. $50 with pre filter
![]()
whats the inlet size for your k&n? Ill poss snag it
Yea ill still be going to KOH with the truck most likely for the weekend. 1 handed desert runs all day haha
The K&N just bolts up to the stock spot. Its like the 4 main bolts that hold the stock air filter on.
Im going out friday i think. I wish i could leave on wed but i cant with school...
did you say if you were taking your truck out or not i forget?
Thats a bummer why is that?
Cause Andrew is scared my old rusty stock looking bronco is gonna own him in the dirt and he wants to avoid the embarrassment my leaving it at home

mikey is right, i cant handle losing.
haha jk.
Pros to taking the yota: fun to drive in the dirt
cons: noisey, sketchy with cops, no radio, no where to sleep, less MPG etc
the ranger is way more comfortable to drive, has a pretty badass stereo, im not worried about the police, and most of all it has a shell for me to sleep in.
I really want to get some work done on the yota before it sees dirt again anyways. it needs a new centerlink, all new heims on the steering (its need those for over a years), new uniballs on the uppers, new coils (dual rate) etc.
Where are the pics of that bronco mike? Its the white one that was at the clean up right??
So andrew your saying you have a truck that runs but arent going to take it out? Thats not right! Just tow her out and sleep in the duty
Yeah the white one, I was riding dirty with three shocks at the clean up, she moves pretty well for a big short bitch hahaha!

Haha that happened to my buddy who also has a bronco, he ripped off a resi or something in the rear and just had ppl shift their weight. Ill be lookin for you out there i wanna do a run with some other trucks
that makes it quite a bitch... what a bust
Spent a lot of time on DR lately cause my collar bone and I saw the "magic number" for the 62 springs and I went out and measured mine and I am at 56 inches instead of the magic 52.5. Looks like ill be adding another mount, and this should fix all the chatter and harshness im getting from the back end on the small stuff
/\/\and where do you guys measure to get this magical number?

1448--Watch out!!
I'm still suspect of that number. I put deavers on a 6 lug Tacoma and ended up closer to 54" I believe. Any less and it was clapped out on the bumps at ride height. You could pull a leaf to soften it up at the expense of ride height, or send them back to Deaver to re-arch higher afterwards.
