So, after getting rid of my Ranger (and regretting it) i decided to make something out of what i had. I love going to the desert, and offroading in general. Having a 4wd gives me a lot more options on where i can go since i live 45 mins from the mountains, 2 hours from pismo, and about 2 1/2 hours from the desert. I plan on making this truck an all around wheeler. I've been working on it for a few months now and have gotten a lot of inspiration from this forum. I have tons of plans for it and will post up as much as possible. Thanks for checkin it out!
1975 DODGE pickup
Mild built 360 (flat tops, 270 comp cam, edelbrock performer intake, 625 carter carb, headman headers, 3 inch exhaust, 2 dual chamber flowmasters)
dana 44 front, NP203, 9.25 rear
and this is what im working with...
The day i picked it up. It was pretty damn hammered.
I took it home and just started taking everything off that i didnt want on it. im really working from the inside out on this truck.
This is how it sits today
I started by ripping everything out of the cab, cleaned it up and put it all back in. I went to a local junkyard and pulled a new dash. Also found a Flex-a-lite fan that i paid 5 bucks for from the same truck i took the dash out of.
Then i ripped out all the old gauges and installed a set of equus gauges, autometer tach with shift light, stereo system, and a 3 switch panel. Also mounted my tomtom where the stock speedo was because it didnt work.
The inserts are made from 1/16 inch steel
Mounted up the fire extinguisher i picked up at harbor freight for around 10 bucks.
Column shifting just doesnt cut it. I installed the B&M megashifter. I had a new tranny put in so it makes me feel a little better having this shifter.
For now, to lift it only about an inch i made some 3/4 inch longer then stock shackles, put in new center pins and some 6 degree axle shims.
Well thats about all i have right now. Ive done a lot of other odds and ends but not worth posting. ill keep posting as i go. let me know what you guys think! Thanks!
