they bolt on pretty easy!!! haha j/k

i bought rotors, calipers, and 4wd drive hubs with the cv's, cut the ends of the cvs off and put them in the hubs, and bolted everything together, i just have to switch my rear axles to 6 lug to match.... thats why i'm running 2 different sets of wheels right now

Alright here is the pictures from today before I tear it all off and put the stock stuff back on so I can drive to work monday. *Remember these are the mock up arms and not the finals. *I cut out some quick plating for the upper uniball to sit in and for the arm tubing to connect to. *Final design with be different but same geometry. *Cycled 20 inches last night with the tire tucked as far up into the fenders as possible. *Decided a more reasonable number would be 18 unstrapped and in the end, 16/17 strapped. *Had to change caster and camber numberous times but it ended up comming out to 14 degrees of caster at bump and 5 at droop. *that is with the front end of the truck jacked up so i figure it will be more like 12 bump/ 3 droop. *camber is in the middle of the oem adjustors so there is plenty of adjustment with those + the heims. extended the wheel base 1.5 inches for firewall clearance and its all very close at full bump.

DROOP, 5 DEGREES OF CASTER

FULL BUMP, 14 DEGREES OF CASTER

Looks good, and by no way am I trying to bag on ya... but... The angle of that upper arm is probably going to give you some decent bump steer. Normally I wouldn't even mention it (hate being "that guy"). I dunno, by far no expert, but I ran into the same problem on a front end I built, but I discovered my mistake waaaaaaaay further down the line after I had alot of other things done revolving around it.

I was just in the middle of making that same diagram. For sure, change that now before you get going anyfurther. Word of advise, don't just drill out a hole lower on the mount....OEM metal is too weak to handle that. I would just build my own mounts for the front upper arm.

Isn't the upper arm tilted to gain caster at bump?? I'm sure the arms don't have to be parallel to eliminate bump steer. Am I wrong? And I don't think moving the stock pivots to eliminate a small amount of bump steer makes sence on a daily driver.

the upper mounting of the CST uniball only allows for a max of 14" to 15" of travel dependin on the extension of the arms, to get the travel of a camburg kit you would need arms like 9" over per side. It is the use of the horizontal uni-ball versus the burg style vertical uni-ball.

keep it up, it looks like you are doing a great job. And yeah you need the caster change through travel, to be honest i think the CST kit needs about 1deg more, IMO. The arms also do not have to be parallell to eliminate bump steer.

With that much caster gain you'll alwasy have some bumpsteer. It might not be noticeable when offroading but it will be there. I tilted the upper pivots on my toyota like that about 5degree out of parallel from the lower arm to get the caster gain like you have. And no wI have around 1/2in of bumpsteer, so i have to redo the centerlink to elimnate that. Anyways, build looks good, can't wait to see the finished product.

Finished up the driver side LCA jig the other day. *Applied it onto the passenger side jig plate to save some space and metal. *Mock up arms will be completed this sunday and put on to get track width and see what kinda bump steer I have since ill have the steering by this weekend.

Passenger side left w/arm, Driver side right w/ bushings sized and ready to go

I'm sure it's just a mock up used to build the jig.

that un-paralell-ness gives the truck anti-dive, keeping the front from going to full bump when you slam on the brakes. Pretty much every car/truck has it, just some more than others.

picked up the steering parts friday. *major props again to scott at camburg. *i emailed him what i had in mind for the steering and he got me all the right parts i needed. *had a tough time with the driving to and from camburg seeing how i was running a fever the whole time. *had to blow off a desert trip today because of this sickness deal and i dont know if ill make it down to the shop this weekend to work on the truck. *not stoked at all. *but i did get to play with the parts while i was misserable on the couch. *threading the heim in and out of the bung is very addictive when your sick.

What's the reason for running a larger heim outside than inside? Is it just to increase the range of motion or...?

my guess is yes, a 7/8 - 1/2" setup will allow for about 12 more deg. than a 3/4 to 1/2 setup.

Sorry i wasnt trying to be a dick just asking a question. I just figured you wouldnt have tacked a uniball cup to the mock up arm. But anyways keep up the good work. Any plans for the rear when the front is finished ?

its all good. *i hear ya on tacking a brand new uniball cup. *i wish i had a junker laying around so i didnt have to tack the finals onto the crappy mock jig. *the arms will be powdercoated after so it will cover any scratches.

and yes rear will be leafs with a set of jason@gmachines shackles. *probably going to be deavers but ive been talking to jonathan at North Country Spring about a custom pair. *His dad build my dads leafs when he raced so it would be cool to have them build my leafs . *oh and im considering a cantilever and leaf setup. *i have some drawings/geometry but since i started working at frontier fence and hauling shit around it might have to be an open bed bedcage er whatever you call it where the bed is saved as much as possible.
