    open those tubes up yo!
And yes, a true dual rate would help on that, your top one is just acting like a tender the way you have it

Well with the help of my best friend Justin, we were able to get the main hoop bent up and tacked up to the truck yesterday!

Can't believe I spent two days of testing at work to read through this thread. Holy crap.

I must say though, some damn amazing work on that truck. Makes me want to get into my project even worse...and I can't weld half as good.

    Nice work dude.

Ohhkay havent posted some Silvy updates in a while. Here is the bumper I have been working on a little at a time. What do you guys think?

The lower hoop is driving me nuts, its 1/2" higher than the lowest part of that cross member but it looks way low to me.

I think it looks good but why dont you just run those skid tubes directly to the subframe?

I tried that and I didn't like that and the more I looked at pictures of my old bumper the more I missed the hoop. Plus that cross member is crooked, bulged and just ugly. This connects the two horns together nicely.

Ha ha maybe in the day time. The corners of the bumper have a tube that just barely clears the core support and hits the engine cage frame mount, something I have always wanted on the silvy.

I say scrap it and use the money for some new rims on the ranger!

No, seriously I think you should leave it if your not gonna tie it directly into the subframe. It looks really good where it is. I just prefer the other way.

Every bolt comes out with plenty of room except for that right off setted one. Ill have to make that down tube removable because there is just no way around it if you want a nice looking skid plate.

hey i had a question. You braced your core support with these and i was just wondering if you any problem with spider cracks in the glass from the flexing since its somewhat hard mounted and you bolt your glass to it.I know it most likely has bushings where it connects to the shock hoop. I have no inner fenders and my core support shakes a lot with just the one little brace it has. Where else do you mount your glass to?

That was the old setup going from the cage to the stock mounts on the core support. I had to ditch them and make new ones when I put the bigger radiator in with the motor swap. It held the core support super firm to where I was able to lean and stand on it. As for the spider cracks I couldnt tell you because I never took this setup to the testing grounds . Give it a try dude.

A long time ago man, they came off the Monster Energy Khaos show truck. 100 bucks each! 4 had 500 miles on them and 2 still had stickers and nipples. A total steal!

Oh gotcha. Well I guess i will have to. I think its really the only secure way to do it. Whatd you do with with the new setup you have?

I hard mounted the bottom mounts, thus eliminating the huge motor mounts that are used as bushings.

I made some spacers to taper the giant hole down on the bottom mount of the core support to 1/2"

The setup was replaced with an aluminum tie rod type setup.

dude where the fuck have you been? ha ha
the fan setup is a factory GM fan setup. The radiator is a larger version out of a 6.0 Suburban. Both are bolt on setups from GM.

haha i dont remember all the details. my apologies!

and have you had any problems with it hardmounted like that since the body moves on bushings but the radiator is solid and glass bolts to both?

Not done yet but here is a preview of the bolt on nerf/light bar. It sits infront of the main hoop 3". Its hard to tell cause I matched it well but from the side you will see when I take a picture. Trophy Silvy?

Hell no, I tested that theory one day by driving around with no fans on when I had the old bumper with the 4 hellas on the front. As long as I was moving she never ran over normal operating temp. The dual fans will make sure she stays cool
