Damn Jason the truck and cage work looks bitchen ..What size is the cab cage ?
the engine cage is 2" the rest of the truck is 1.75".
but dont worry guys this chassis is under the grandfather clause, we already checked it with savage and the research has been done. Its the design of the cage that makes is very safe so 1.75" is more then enough. The truck was originally built by nestor at newline. There is still some original cage structure left, hence the use of 1.75".

clean work, i like the attention to detail. whats outta frame in the "0.0 perfectly level pic"
do you have any oppenings to build me a Ranger 6 over boxed upper/lower, cust. spindle Lt kit in the near future? haha

What weight are you guys shooting for? Seems like its too beastly for Dakar. Bitchin' fab work none the less.
that must have driven you nuts when you found that out jason. who doesnt like dimple dies!?!?!?Kent the owner does not like dimple dies that much

yeah guys the dimple die issue was a hard one to get over. Kent does not like them so i have to think differently on this build to accomidate his style. I will be adding some in the cab-cage plating but thats it. Every tube on this truck is in its designated location for a certain reason and you will see why when we get all the stuff on the chassis.
here are a few more shots.
Jason
more shots and the welding close ups from before.

26?
Truck is looking great. Yah, is that a rear winch?
yes its a massive winch. It has 175 Ft of cable and will pull a house down. This truck will also have a onboard welder, sand ramps, pull pal, compressor, tank, refrig/cooler, and tons of other things.
Jason
Damn, 22 and building shit like that. I guess everyone learns how to do something different at a young age. Thats cool though man and that will be one sick ass truck when it is done im sure

How big is that cell? Dakar rules state that you must have enough gas to go something like a whole day or 500 miles with out refueling. Its something in that range. That cell looks to be 40 or so gallonsHow are you guys addressing this situation? And one more thing, why dont the tubes converge into a single point?
Nikita Khrushchev said"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. "
yes we are very aware of the cell requirement. Im not exactly sure the gallon capacity but its in the ballpark of 60 gal. Its a complete custom size and shape. The other added bonus is that this truck is a deisel. I remember Kent saying that it will have a range of about 620 miles. I believe that the diesel is running somewhere in the ballpark of 700HP and 900TQ, i will have to double check but i remember Kent saying that when the computer was tuned to full race that they were getting those numbers.
the design of the cage is the same as the previous builder, Newline. Kent wanted us to keep the same style just tuck the tubework up more to the body then before. Kent had a huge part on the layout of the build, he was very specific on where and what he wanted. We simply exeucited the plan he gave us. We are not concerned about strength at all, yes it is considered to be better if they do converge at the center but by no means does this make this structure any weaker. In other words, it was discussed and the strangth was not the issue.
Jason
Sounds good, thanks for the clarification and so quickly![]()

jason that thing looks like a piece... just chop it up and leave it out back....for me to come get. hahahahaha. looks good.... is it done yet?
yeah i have been welding for 6-7 years now. We work very hard here at GMR and my business partner Louie is only 22 as well, he is very proficent in CATIA and is a suspension geometry guru. I know alot because i spent years in NASCAR tuning those suspensions, but he still knows more then me.
My secret- I dont sleep, i simply live off of Rockstar and Muscle Milk. The guys make fun of me because i walk around the shop with my little shaker cup.
Jason
yeah there is a lot of stuff going into the truck. We are not going to be mounting everything, the truck leaves tomorrow to head back down to KORE so Kents prep guys can finish the little things here and there then bolt on the massive insane shocks.
Darren Skilton (sp) dropped a badass sat phone setup for the truck, i guess it is the exact same one they use in the HUMVEE for the marines.
