I sent out for my lines so things are running smoothly so far with plenty of buffer time for the race to test, fab... what not.

evan, i know they are only tacked/mocked up. this may be obvious, but the bung should be welded 360 around the upper tube. then weld the lower tube on. sorry if you already knew that, but you got me scared since they are tacked already.

Ight, ass faces... I did a couple hours of work today after I got the rest to the steel and hardware to make this kit work. Thanks to my girl, this is all possible for me now. Shes my loan shark to get this shit done.

Anyway, I started working on the new steering sleeves, not done yet. I will start disassemling the stock xmember and start fabbing the new xmember, the get the brackets on, then line up the rad arms for the correct wheel base and then the truck will be standing up itself. Cep theres a small problamo. I need to find a welder to weld the truck's parts on because my 230v extension cord does not reach the truck, and I cant move the damn truck while its in peices, so Ill be doing some hunting for someone with a 110 MIG.

enough talking. Now for the unsatisfying pics

rads with hiem and hardware (not done yet, so keep your pants on)

    tranny mount

    Workin the new sleeves

So Today is my first day completely off and I will try and get all the parts hooked up so that they just need to be welded.

    Im sooo Fucking EXCITED!!!!11!

its coming along youre almost there!.. interesting how you did the x member.. when i make mine i have a bushing that will mount where the crossmember meets the pivot boxes on each side.. then the entire crossmember will flex with the transmission.. but i like your idea preeetty cool. keep up the good (and fast) work!

    Default Question...

    What year beams are those?

because i just had beams cut and extended from a 85 ranger for my 95 ranger, done by PIRATE LAB, they came out real nice and I cant wait till i get them installed.

The question is will the 95 ranger brake line connect to the brake calipers of the 85? There all new parts... rotors calipers break pads... would i need an adapter?

sorry to jack thread just a question
    thanks

the brake line will connect to your spindles... i think its different since your truck is a 95 but on my 97 ranger i had to get different spindles and calipers since i had the bolt on calipers not the ones held in by the rubber things.. (i think i remember that correctly..)

Here is what I found with my 96 ranger. Yes you have to go buy new calipers. Yes they are completely different and require jam pins to hold the calipers to the 86' or below knuckles. And most important......GET NEW ROTORS!!!!! DO NOT run a 90's rotor with a 80's knucle. NOT SAFE! Do what I did, go to pick-a-part if you dont have the money and pay $30 for a set of used rotors. The circumference and width of the rotor is bigger on a 90's ranger than a 80's ranger. Believe me, I put them side by side....they are different enough in size that if you run a 90's rotor with a 80's front end, you will have a rotor grinding on the inside of the caliper. It will ruin the rotor and eventually you can lose your brakes. It happened to me......

oo thats right.. i remember now.. different size wheel bearings too. back when i first put on my beams my dumbass had wobbly tires and couldnt figure it out. then i finally looked closely and realized EVERYTHING needed to be replaced. i now know i shouldve replaced the wheel bearings anyway but hey i was younger.. and more stupid at the time.. haha

oh... Those are just little stringers I used to seam it together so I could have a taller bracket. Plus. Im getting to the point to where I say "fuck it" when it comes to the asthetics. I just wanna be done before the race. Cept one thing is scaring me. I sent out my money order to Dave at Threat last week, And I hope the lines will get here for the race. I havent heard back from him.

well this is my first kit, and as you make your own, already half way through it and you learn a million ways to NOT make a kit. So whenever my economic status is moar secure. Ill be making a nice flawless kit. But since it took me this long just to work on one kit, who knows how long itll be till the second one.

So Im not going to finish the crossmember until tonight (Im gonna go pick up my friend Tay, his welder, and some tall jacks to hold the truck up in the front. Im gonna go back out in a few and work on the rad arms and wheelbase. Comments, Concerns??

I don't see the need for the lower bushing if your keeping the stock tranny mount. IMO more shit to vibrate and break.

I didnt know the stock tranny mount was in fact rubber. CandD didnt tell me that bit. If i knew I would have made the member a full solid mount.

    Exclamation Evan Needs Your Help

I am hitting to many problems because I have no way of efficiently welding the stuff up when its sooo far away from the house. Right now, im using my neighbors flux core. But that thing can barely make a good tack... it makes booger tacks.

And every hour I spend not working, is another hour I am away from finishing and another hour closer to the race.

Is there anyone in the high desert that has a 110v welder of any kind that would be nice enough to bring it here for my use. I will be willing to pay for your materials. and my time is flexible

It happened to me......
okay i got all new rotors and calipers to fit on the 85 spindal, which i have to use because the beams are 85... but the brakeline from the 95 ranger wont work with the 85 ranger caliper... what do i do there?
