I got the spare mounts started today. Took a while to get them exactly right- the clearance to the swaybar is really tight, but I wanted to get them mounted as low as possible. At full bump, the swaybar just barely kisses the tire- a little extra bump stop
I still need to add another tube to support the bottom of the spare, but I need to wait until h&m finishes up the sway bar.
I also got my trans coolers mounted up. Getting close.....

definetly one awesome build keep up the awesome work
i really like the light wing too!
Awsome build. I really like the dash, console and interior workings. Any idea when the center mounted front starts?
Thanks!
Thanks- the light wing is from Baja Shop. For the price you can't beat it- clean, simple, and I really like that it is not just a box, but fits the lines of the truck a little more.
Not sure if I have posted up any pics yet, but my dash, center console, and all of my interior aluminum panels are all wrapped now. I will try to take some pics this weekend when I take it off the jackstands and pull it out of my garage.
I don't know the timing on the front yet- I had planned on doing it this summer, but this little rock incident blew through some of that $$$. Part of the problem is that I am swapping over to an LS and a new trans (4L80E), and I want to do everything at the same time. The 5.4 is a really wide engine, and I don't want the front cage work and upper shock mounts to be built around it. So between the motor, trans, and all the fab work up front I need to save up some more pennies.I will probably spend this year collecting parts and then do it all next year. Depends on how much stuff I can pick up at the swapmeet.......
Thanks- they will definitely add a different look to it.
I will throw it on this weekend when I pull my truck out of the garage, but all of my fiberglass is pulled off right now so you won't get the full effect. I should get it back from H&M next week and then mount the bedsides and the rest of the wheels.

DAMN. That is exactly the wheel and color I was goiung to run on my 4runner if I would have bought a white one. But I did not think it would look right on the Charcol Grey I got. It looks awesome. Heck I am steeling that pic and photoshopping it on right now to see how it would look
***I was right. It does not look to hot on the dark grey 4runner***

I am still probably a year away from re-doing the front, but I will definitely post up here when I am ready to sell it.
I don't think it would good with grey either. I think it is going to look weird with my light grey trailing arms as well. Next time I pull them off I will probably paint them black.
Thanks- getting close to being back on the road. I'm dropping it off at H&M on monday to put the new lower a-arm on and do a couple of things. It should be back up and running in a couple of weeks, finally.

At HM getting some love.

I didn't get off as "easy" as I was hoping- the frame on the driver's side is bent upwards about 2" just in front of the cab![]()
H&M is going to cut off the shock hoop (which had a couple of cracks and needed to be replaced anyways) and then I need to take it to a collision repair place to have them fix the frame. It sucks to have to do this when I am going to be cutting off the frame in a year or so anyways, but I don't want to have to park it. Oh well......

Exactly- there is a plce right around the corner from H&M, and I think it will just be easier and cheaper to straighten it. We would have to remove fuel lines, electrical, exhaust, etc. to cut/weld the frame. I don't think it will be too much $$.

When i write an estimate, we usually do 1 hour of pull time per inch of movement. If it's more than a few incches then something is usally kinked and in insurace, we wont repair it.
But i agree with what your doing. Much easier than cutting it and trying to line it back up. This shoudl not be more than a few hundo to pull it straight. And im Sure H&M will do a little plate work on the frame afterwards to strengthen it up.

I only write AZ stuff, so onyl know of shops out here. But the place around the corner from H&M should work fine. Im sure they have used them before. Just when you drop it off, ask to check out the Frame Machine to make sure it's not all beat up and in good condition. Most shops have upgraded to the newer machines which are nice and do nice pulls.
I just ran a frame pull one ourestimating system for a 02 Supercrew conventional frame. And for 2 points of pulling (front of frame and Crossmemeber) it was a total of 5 hours of frame time. But you may only need 1 point which would be 3 total hours. These times included the setup and measure. Rule of thumb for as wel is 1.5 hour per pull point. Plus the 2 hours to set it up and measure it which is a one and done thing.
Hopefully this gives you a bit more info when you take it in. Glad i could help.
i just ran a search for our RSVP shops that our CA offices work with, and this was the only one in temec/murrieta area. but since they are an RSVP shop, they should have the better frame tables

Andrew, I could do it for $255-306 if you wana bring it to my shop in Moreno Valley. As long as it's not that bad. We have a sister store in Lake Elsinore as well, I could talk with them and try to get them to give you the same deal. But it may be closer to $400 if they don't wanna help a brotha out. Let me know. Being that you're going to cut everything off in a year, if you can save some money and go to a smaller hole in the wall shop to do it cheaper, that's probably the best way to go. It wont have to be "perfect".

Cool- thanks for the info. I will give them a call.
Thanks for the offer Greg- I would prefer to do it closer to temecula if I can just because it is so much easier just to have H&M drop it off. If I can't find anyplace there or they are way more $$$ I will def. give you a call though.

PM sent....
My frame is a little worse than we thought
The collision place wouldn't touch it- they said it was not only bent upwards, but "rolled" in towards the engine, and they didn't think they could fix it. Not sure what to do at this point. I really don't want to throw too much $$ at it right now since I am planning on completely redoing the front next year anyways. I might have to do that sooner than planned, but it is still going to probably sit for a while. Bummer.....

Thanks, but shit happens. If it was caged up front this wouldn't have happened, so this is just going to force the issue. I will probably have to throw a cheap LQ9 take-out engine and 4L80E in there to build the front end around instead of a nice LS, and then build a better engine in the future. Center mount here we come![]()

Well that sucks! I bet it could still be pulled straight, but most places wont becasue of the liability behind it ya know. Even though it's a play truck, if somethign fails, it could come back on them and most places dont even wanna think about that stuff. You could check some of the other shops, or talk to Greg, maybe bring it to him.
Another option could be to find a donor truck, cut the frame at the cab mount and piece the new frame rail on and have H&M plate it all up.???? temp fix and gets it back going untill next year. My truck is sitting bare right now, but it's a 2wd so the frame would be a tad different.

Thanks..... I am sure if I tried I could find a frame shop to get it somewhat close, and it would probably work for a little while. But the shock hoop is bent and needs to be replaced, the frame would need to be plated in a few places, and the lower arm mounts would need to be plated as well. It would all add up to more $$ than I want to spend for just a short term fix. I will buy a nice set of 3.5" or 4.0" bypasses instead.
At this point I am resigned to it sitting for a year while I gather up the parts to do the front and put a new engine/trans in. I will also take the time to finish up the aluminum work in the rear, paint the rear, do a bunch of wiring, some interior stuff, etc.
I will keep updating this thread and next year at this time will have some big updates......
