    Default NS A-arm Expo

Our first A arm explorer came into the group so we decided to tackle the task of making out first A-arm kit. We got our hands on a Camburg spindle and went from there. We just finished the uppers and lowers for the most part with just a little more welding to do. Install is planned for this weekend hopefully to have it out in Glamis for Halloween

an early model yota is our next project to tackle in a couple weeks...

As far as travel the computer says it expects to pull 16-17 inches, we probably strap it at 16

damn you guys are busting projects out left and right. the f100 is still my favorite... when are you guys going to link something? and also are you gonna add a wrap around the uniball cup or is that not needed?

ya that is something we sat back and looked at after everything was almost done. We have the wraps already made and ready to weld on to the arm/frame mounts, but we were thinkin about wrapping the cup as well.

thanks for all the positive responces!

I wrap both the bushing mounts & uniball cups...like i said, just for peace of mind. are you drilling the 6.0 spindle for a bolt, or using a machined pin? just curious...also, how much wider roughly per side are ya?

i am considering building some 6' over arms for my 2000 ranger and runing stock spindels with 12 or 10inch shocks, does that sound reasonable? what could be some probles i would run into?

run lift spindles, to keep ride height up while keeping enough droop travel to be smooth thru the rough, and not make you slam your tires on the fenders.

    10" shocks will be plenty.

im wondering what is involved in finding the angle of the bottom uniball when making the arm, the spindle and the imaginary line from the uniballs-the center of the tire contact patch (forgot the technical name) play a great part, but what else?

nope. The angle of the imaginary line through center of upper and lower uni balls is KPI. Where that line hits the ground to the center of tire is scrub radius.

well we are cutting it close for glamis next weekend but we finished the arms and installed everything, made the shock hoops, and finally picked up the tires today. We still have yet to finish off some cosmetic fabrication stuff, bump and strap it, and paint everything.

will be strapped at 16 inches

kit looks sweet. Tell him to bring extra tie rods my h&m kit has that same type of extention and i bend them left and right. Throw some more tubes on that engine cage when you have time.

x2 if you plan on really using this truck then those inners will bend first trip. also iv seen alot of trucks with the hood bowed out because the single cross tube flexing. just run another tube aside of it and plate them together.

run a tube between the two rear lower arm pivots. lots of stress there and your frame will eventually crack. and weld thick washers on both sides of each lca pivots as they will wear out. frame there is.0000001 thick..

looks good tho! hope to see you guys out in glamis..

Ya, we know the steering right now is a weak point, but will get upgraded as soon as his bank account gets upgraded.

as far as the rear, we are trying to decide between a typical deaver pack or experimenting with something else ...we will see though

and thanks everyone for the nice comments!
