Eh, no big deal. Well, I mean it's definitely not what you would want to have if you plan on driving on the street a lot.

It squeels like a pig in the parking lots with the fresh dark black sealant. That will get you some strange looks. And it defnitely adds to the jacking effect on the i-beams. Basically you can feel it loading up the chassis when you try to turn real sharp and accelerate from low speed. Feels like the tires are definitely going to wear quick if you drive it on the road a ton.

However, once you're moving it doesn't feel too bad. You probably aren't going to win any autocross races with it though. LOL But, I didn't build this truck for the pavement. So for me.. I still think it was the best option.

So the maiden voyage went quite well.

We loaded her up with all our shit to see if it could take enough stuff to camp over night on it's own. Back sagged down quite a bit from all the weight... but it worked!!

Drove 100 miles out to Ocotillo Wells. Drove it 200 miles in the dirt out there. All over down by superstition(wash under the rail road tracks), up fish creek, over to blowsands, devil slide, shell reef, etc. Let my lady drive it around a ton. Then we drove it to Salton Sea... and back up the S22 and a couple trails off that too. I didnt know the Blu Inn stopped selling gas!! That's why we ended up at Salton Sea. (had to go to that gigantic AMPM)

I 3 wheeled it pretty good once.... and stuffed the front in some silt. Had to stop from that because I couldnt see anything. Had to take a shirt and wipe off all the dust ont he windsheild. It was pretty freaky to black out the entire windsheild and just hope you're still going straight until you stopped!

I definitely have some tuning to do. I was blowing through the travel way too fast. Pounding on the front bumps.

I still haven't spun the collars down for cross over points yet. So gonna try that first.. but thinking i will still need more compression up front.

I definitely need to plug those holes that the tubework comes out of in the back. Shit was sucking dust right into the cab.

Otherwise it seems pretty good out of the box. Totally different truck than Ghetto1, that's for sure!

Why won't this site let me quote anyone anymore? Shit doesn't work.

    Fishreidendrive:

Yea, it will definitely hit if I do something that requires a good departure angle.. like a big drop off. I have my plate in the same area on Ghetto1. It rarely happens, and when it does, it just bends it up flat with the tube... and when I get back on the street I bend it back down. LOL

    MX33:
Thanks! I'm stoked on the bitch too. The links arent that bad on the street. I mean there is definitely some more body roll than with leafs... but it's hard to explain. It's really only the first light movement. It will lean pretty good with slight turns... but if you turn harder and more agressively in that same turn...it stops at that lean angle and the rolling doesnt really continue. No matter what it's defnitely worth the difference you feel in the dirt. I don't have a sway bar either.

    DesertRider:

Thanks for the compliments... but bummer on your bike!! What time was that? That could have been my girlfriend driving at the time... I know when I see a fellow dirt biker broken down I usually try to stop and help. Good luck on getting her fixed and back out there!

So I got my hood from Fiberwerx on Sat. Thanks Travis!!! Got to check out a Pro-Lite they were working on.. and the TT of course.

I took the hood home and got to business. Mounted it up. Fits pretty good... except as you can see in the one picture... it's a little flatter than the actual valence. I might build a small hood adjuster in the center to try and bring that portion up. Otherwise it's pretty damn perfect!

No muffler. I just took some of the stock exhaust and dumped it like a turn down right after the cat.

It's really not that loud though(well except in the cab of course). The Android phone seems to amplify the sound quite a bit.

I don't care for the noise in the cab though. So eventually I think I will get an exhaust to help quiet it down inside.

Yea... I flipped her over and fucked her like she had a butter face. LOL I'm officially 2 for 2! hahah

I had this little hot lap set up around the east side of Ocotillo Wells. I was pushing it a bit harder and harder throughout the day and finally flipped it over in a turn.

I was kinda backing it into this left hand corner(heavy breaking and then letting the clutch act as a rear steering brake with downshifts to get the rear to drift out).. and it just unexpectedly hooked up when I got back on the gas towards the apex. Was doing it all day, but that time I just ran out of talent I guess. Buddy was with me and went for a ride. He was funny. Like trying to get out of the vehicle super fast. I think he thought it was going to blow up like the movies. LOL

I will get pics up soon. I just finished the "major" repairs to get it back road worthy. (new white doors with new windows, new mirrors, new old tail light, new extra cab windows, fixed all the fiberglass). Cab is squished in a bit on pass side behind the door though. So now there is a gap. Not sure if it's repairable or if the only way to fix that is a new cab or at least panel in that area. Roof is crinkled up too. The cagework held up awesome though. Only bent the rear bedside antenna on driver side down a little. Just bent it right back up and put the repaired glass right back on. Didn't even have to drill new holes.

And I was blown away that the windshield didn't break. The rear sliding window and driver side extra cab window also survived. Drove it to work yesterday, so just cosmetics at this point. I'm kinda bummed cuz it was so clean, but in reality this is what I built it for.... to drive the shit out of it... and it's still able to do that. Kind of glad I didn't get it painted! LOL

I was really digging it and getting into the groove too. I like to push things towards their limits I guess. I'm also wondering if a sway bar would have helped.

Still needed some tuning though. I actually upped the compression in the front to a 20 stack. Closing up the rebound tube out back. Rear was growing too much and front diving and hitting bumps too easy. Maybe I will have to tone down the aggressiveness a bit for a while. GAAAAAAAAAY. LOL

Still havent got any pics. I killed another fricking digital camera. Only one i have now is a GoPro and it distorts the view too much like a fish eye.

However... I did get some more done. Working on a front skid plate. Looks just like Ghetto1 but has 4x holes instead of 3x.

Also been working on stereo stuff. Ripped out the stock cassette deck.

Put in a new Sony DSX-S100 head unit. Actually still putting it in. Wired up the harnesses last night. Will finish installing tray at lunch(drove it to work and have some tools to finish it up)

What's cool about this head unit is that it doesnt have a CD-player to break. It's a "digital media player". So it's really just a radio ... but has an internal media tray cubby hole for USB devices. Basically you can put an ipod inside the radio... or a USB stick(what I plan to do).. or even can put a phone in there to play music files!! Can't beat it for $100!!!

Going to get some 10" subs and an amp soon too.

Here's a picture of the head unit.

You could always bring a saws all to the jy and cut the dented part of the cab off a donor and graft it to your truck like bonzen did.

Yea... i thought about the cab graft method. Just not really thinking about it at this point. Trying to get everything else squared away. I want to get it dialed better. Finish up the little things etc.

I really really want to test the fresh re-valve. I tried around fiesta island but it's not rough enough. I think I might have it pretty good now though. Seemed like the front was holding it's height better...and rear not growing up so much.

Still thinking of shortening the bumps to 3".. maybe even 2" up front.

Oh and Mike... that's good to hear! Well not the part about it getting ganked... but the fact you liked it! LOL

I just installed a jvc unit similar to this but without the storage pocket in my girls car. It works and sounds so much better then the old unit plus no more scratched cds. I wish I would of seen the sony one tho cuz that cubby is a great idea.

That Sony HU is pretty cool! Since it's USB, does it charge the device while it's plugged in?

I think it does indeed charge the device. I have a USB stick in it though.... so nothing to charge.
