Arrow Camburg 7200 Ranger Project ....

Here's an exciting project we just got started on. We're building an i-beam Ford Ranger built around Best in the Deserts 7200 class rules.

Originally the customer bought all the parts off of us and was going to have a local shop build the truck for him. That didnt end up working out for him so he approached us to build it for him.

In a nutshell ... we're using part of the stock frame, the rear will be all tubes and it will be rocking a fiberglass body running the Ford SOHC 4.0L engine.

So far we sent the frame out to get sandblasted so it's nice and clean to work on, and once we got that back a couple days ago we started mounting the key suspension components. Now it's time to start bending up some tubes. We should make some really good progress in the next couple of weeks. I'll post updates as we go as usual.

Here's a brief list of what parts it will have on it.

    Front Suspension
Camburg Race I-beam Kit (i-beams, radius arms, spindles, steering)
    Camburg 2.25 front race hubs
    Wilwood 12” x 1.25” rotors
    Wilwood Forged Superlite 4-Piston calipers
    Bilstein 9300 14” travel coilovers
Bilstein 9300 Blackhawk 16” travel bypass shocks
    Bilstein 2.0 bumpstops

    Rear Suspension & Driveline
    Camburg Race 3-link kit
Camburg 2.25 rear full-floater race hubs
    Dirt-Tech 3” 4130 housing
    Camburg 35 spline heat-treated axles
    Wilwood 12” x 1.25” rotors
    Wilwood Forged Superlite 4-Piston calipers
    Bilstein 9300 14” travel coilovers
Bilstein 9300 Blackhawk 16” travel bypass shocks
    Bilstein 2.0 bumpstops

    Engine
    Ford 4.0L OHC

    Transmission
Culhane Racing C4 w/ manual valvebody

    Wheels & Tires
    American Racing 16x8 Outlaw 2 (5 on 5.5)
    Nitto 35” Terragrapplers

    Body
    Trailer Products extra-cab and roof
    Fiberglass 1pc front end
    Fiberglass rear bedsides

    Chassis
2.00” & 1.75” 4130 tubing utilizing portion of stock frame

Gregg at this point we're doing all the chassis fabrication side of it. As the project progresses we'll see if it gets wired and plumbed here and is running or just a roller.

should be a cool build to watch.. They need to make a new class 8 style class like 7200 so people can build a full size with a v8

What is the purpose of bolting the plate to the frame then welding the tube to the plate? Why not just weld the plate? Does welding the plate put to much stress on the frame?

Those bolts hold the inner 3 link wishbone bracket. The plate you see will be welded to the frame. The nut coming through the plate goes through the heim.

Nice work on the a-pillar triangulation. That's exactly how I did mine; makes for great torsional rigidity.

Why didn't you put the rear horizontal bar farther back to have more room in the "cab" area? Truck looks great!

Who's body is that is it Boatec? Just wondering on those miter cuts where the tubes connect did you plate them and then weld them up, or just connect them and weld them up. Looks good cant wait to see more.
