    Default 94' 2wd toyota pick-up build

buildin a front end, bedcage, and later a cab cage for shane(FLAUNT)... so he brought me the truck like this over the weekend

and so far i have gotten the lowers done and tomorrow will be gettin the tabs cut for the mounts upper/lower. should be a pretty good kit.
gonna run the 4x4 hubs/spindles and box/extend those, heimed steering, and my "box" uppers lol

kit will be available as a complete package when im done with htis truck, but will need some fab work to mount it up, i will provide all necessary mounting plates/boxed lower arm mounts. but ill post pics tomorrow to show what i mean.

i use a plasma dude and yeahi still d work with him. his prices are so good i cant go anywhere else. granted i have to be pretty critical and present when it comes to design, but i dont pay much at all. its nice having all your plates cut for you and all you have to do is grind wm up a little and weld up lol

Better double plate up those lower arm mounts, I have bent the shit out of 3/16" plate before, I'd run at least doubled 1/8" or thicker on those. Also does that lower arm clean the stock a-arm mount at bump, looks close to th epivot so it might hit it. Looking good so far.

i actually have not welded that pivot up just incase i need to cut it to make more clearance. it clears a good amount and i cant imagine it being able to bump more than wha it is. but i left that option open. as for doubler plates, yes yes yes i am def doingit and adding a gusset to the rear "main" pivot to add more strength so it dont flex. just got one arm mostly done today and still needs work haha. thanks for the input man!

also im curious if anyone else notched the frame? ill post pics of how i do it, but i spread aprt the pivots more than thenorm, so at bump the arm was hittingthe lower portion of the frame. i notched it and it will be boxed and gusseted and plenty strong witha beffy cross member to help. curious why i have not seen anyone do it. its better to do it cuz the bigger the spread the less load is forced on the front pivot.

Truck looks like a good project and the arms are nice. When you get going on a project you just keep going. Can't wait to see the front end done.

did you just jig a stock arm and then extend a few inches? or are the new arms pushed forward at all?

there is a reason no one really does the rear mount struts anymore....

not trying to hate on you either cause i spent my fair share of time trying to mess with it cause it makes clearing the steering alot easier on the toyotas. its just really hard on the stock a arm mounts.

i understand that, but the further you spread the mountsaway from eachother, the less leverage there is on that front mount. if the mounts were 6" apart, the front would of course want to rip off, i put them 14" apart, thats 3/4 of the length of the arm therefore creating less leverage on that front mount. i thought a lot about it before i made it this way, and yes it may be alittle work to notch the frame, but its better than having the front mount rip off. hopefully lol

To help with the lower arm mount issues, it would be pretty easy to run a couple tubes from the mounts/cross member up to the stock front cross member. Hope that makes sense. Kind of like a strut frame minus the arm mounts.

Build is looking good! Glad to see progress on this thing finally! lol. What are your plans for the steering to compensate for the uniball being moved forward 1.5"? Did Shaun talk to you about the upper arm setup I mentioned to him? Keep up the bitchen work!

Spindle looks too tall. In that last pic it looks like you have some negative caster is that correct?

Just curious, with pushing the wheel base forward 1.5" will you need to do any steering modifications?

I am not sure to be honest with you. I just figure with moving the wheel forward you would need to move the steering forward equally. If the box and idler arm stay in the stock location, the tie rods will be angled forward. I don't know if that is something to worry about or not.

The tie rods will hit the center link. you can run bends in them or try and move the entire steering system forward.

This was on my truck with the suspension moved forward about 1". The steering arms on my spindles had to be really sort so the tie rods would clear. I also had a spacer on the center link to push the heim as far out as possible. The bolt head was very close to the lower arm mount.
