That was suppose to be in the Explorer thread. Long night last night. I am working up in Twentynine Palms for the next 6 months and had just drove in. I will get some pictures up in a couple days.

dudeeee that tbell has been killin me. Same with the subway there. Any other t bell or subway is perfect, but these two are no bueno.
Gettin kinda burnt on this thing, but thats just cause a lot of things are happening all at once. Things i need to fix asap, and want done by the clean up.
    1. Tranny(MOST IMPORTANT)
    2. Tubs(which i will have done for sure)
    3. Rear Shocks/Hoops(Hopefully have the cash for it)
    4. Re Arch and get new bushings in the springs.

To Come After The Clean Up In No Particular Order
    1. Paint.
    2.Cage.
    3.Links.
    4.Bypasses
    5. Bumps.

drove down to lakeside today and picked up a new 8.8 with 4.56s! Hopefully ill get it installed tomorrow, painted it all grey, took the shackles off repainted them grey aswell. Replaced all the bolts in the leafpack and cleaned them up and painted aswell. Nice little prep can make everything look brand new. Painting the front suspension tomorrow aswell, and gotta take the radius arm heims out due to them jamming through the bung and wedging into the pivot. See what the deal is with that.

well the gears seem to high to me, my speedometer needle passes the max speed on the speedo and goes to the d in the gear selector :/
think a good way to fix it is throw 35s on! hahah. Gonna hopefully have my tubs installed by the clean up, but i doubt it.

Lol you can regear the speedo. There is a couple threads about it, you just replace the gear that goes into the trans. I went to do it though and my local ford stealership is a bunch of dumbasses and couldn't find the part for me with out me bringing it in.

Anyways post some pictures of it all painted up, I wanna check it out!

im thinking you dont have 456 gears. Check them out. Also, what are your RPM at what speeds? 35's would be nice, but get your rear end done

My old explorer was 4.56 on worn 32s when i first got it, and doing about 70 the needle pointed at the D in the gear selector. When i went to 35s it got better and it still felt plenty powerful.

im trying to find a good way to count gears cause ive never done it, but i will see what happens. The rear will be done once money permits, ill have my pinion angle/12inch saws mounted on saturday so i can atleast have a little fun at the clean up. If i can get my intake manifold fixed first. 35s arent important to me, when these wear away we will see how i feel on it then, but ill run these till its new tire time.

I always thought it was weird that my speedo wasnt off that much. Withg 4.56 and 33" tires my speedo is only off by about 5mph (if that) going 70 or even 45 for that matter. I never asked for a speedometer gear replacement when I got my gears installed and I know I didnt pay for it but maybe that is a common practice for that shop I went to. I would still count the teeth and see what you have so you know for sure. (ring gear divided by pinion gear)

Get the back tires in the air and spin the tire one full rotation.. Count how many times the pinion spins.

Basically 1 tire turn= how many driveshaft turns?
3 full rotations is 3.xx gears, 4 rotations is 4.xx gears, 5 rotations is 5.xx gears.
Say it turns about four and a half times, that translates to 4.5. Since there isn't a 4.5 gear ratio, it's most likely 4.56. If it turns about four and three quarter times, since there is no 4.75 it's most likely 4.88's. See how it works?

it can only handle so much "action" at its current state but it will be there. I kinda wanna do that trophy truck valance thing.
My pinion angle is gonna be fixed on saturday thank god! and some shocks mounted up temporarily. The tubs need to be done and i need to deal with the intake manifold leak. Hoping i can get it all finished for the clean up

Just RTV the upper intake manifold, when you take it off if you're too cheap to buy a new gasket. I put a gasket and rtv on mine and never had a problem. I also torqued them down way more then rated lbs lol. I thought I posted something like this in your thread already but I am not sure. Anyways I am still waiting on the painted pics!

Poo brown and peanut tan. The perfect combo. Expo looked good the other day, I actually did a loop around it instead of cruising straight through. So who was the dude that works at Henrys we busted for jacking eye drops when he was stoned? Hahaha
