    Default Dove season Sept. 1st

Headed out to Blythe Ca, to dove hunt opening day. Going to hunt the Az. side in the morning and Ca. side in the afternoon. Has anyone been out there scouting out the population recently? anyone else going?

yeah doves are really fun to hunt because they are super fast. Make a good meal also. Doves are really common in farm fields because they eat dry seed. So from El Centro on up the river its good Ca hunting.

I have been to Blythe twice for river trips and stayed at the Comfort Suites. I never have had spare time to check out the town cause I always have had the wife and kid along. Is there a good bar in town to get some beer and good food? I have a good feeling after 8hrs in the heat I'm gonna want to get smashed at a bar.

I thought the Eurasians were no limit in AZ. and part of the 10 bag in CA. What stamp do you need for Turkey? I will let you know when; and we can go hunt some turkeys, On his property or somewhere else.

You have your regular bag limit of 10 mourning/white wing and no limit on Eurasian. It looks to be just something for this year. I have never been turkey hunting, I wonder if they would be under the upland game stamp.

Turkey would have to be upland game because they don't fall under the Hip migratory bird thing.

In Az turkey is just like big game... you have to get drawn... that's crazy though. I never thought turkey would be in SD but then again I really don't know the area outside town

Yes, I eat meat, lots of it.

The Turkey in SD county are thick, they are like rats. Spend some time in the Julian/Cuyamaca area and you will see more than you could imagine. There are some good sized Toms too. They are all over Valley Center, Ramona and Palomar Mtn. There are a bunch on the north side of the mountain too just into Riverside.

so I am a total newbie when it come to hunting i have never been. I just purchased a mossberg 12 gauge shotgun and was wondering what everyone uses to hunt doves.

On another note where can i find more information out about getting a hunting license and the fees that are involved.

You can use any shotgun to hunt dove, a 12 gauge is ideal for me, some, more skilled guys use a 20 gauge.

As for hunting for good times - I will not hunt anything that I dont eat. Also I belive that a portion of our fees/tags, go back to maintain habitats, studies, etc.

There is a Turkey season every spring in SD, the fall thing is new because of a huge population.

Also, I'd love to get out on a quail hunt. For anyone that has not tried quail, you are missing out. It's on almost every menu in Mexico for a reason.

Lots of different factors come in to play. Choke, rounds chambered, barrel length, ammo load used, etc. What model? I have a Mossberg 835 set up as a duck gun right now.

Its a mossberg 500 it is currently set up with an 18.5 inch barrel so i am assuming if i wanted ti hunt with it I would have to run a longer barrel.

Holy crap, way to short for fowl hunting. Birds that are generally close and fast you use a shorter barrel (but still longer than yours), and slower/further away birdies use a longer barrel.
