    Default Home Depot Dynamat

I tried searching, but couldn't find the thread that had the name of the housing material that works like Dynamat that you can get from Home Depot or Lowes. Can someone direct me towards the thread or product name of what I'm thinking of. Thanks

I used this stuff called FortiFlash. It's window flashing material that you can find in the roofing section of HomeDepot. Worked great.
My truck has recently been described as both "Boring and Mechanical". And I love it!

that stuff works ok, takes away the vibrations and stuff but that's it really, doesn't kill any engine or road noise.

x2 its the exact same stuff as Fat Mat.... and it melts easily... its going to blow big nuts when i cage my truck.. highway noise is still the same and the whole truck is done, i dont think it is thick enough personally. and its messy

    here is the thread:

    cheapest sound deadener??

I am putting it on my roof panel right now, actually just took a break to get some food. I went to pep-boys today and picked up a roll of sound deadener shit 4x6ft for $25 also. Pretty good deal

Oh, and I've been to a few home depot's in san diego, can't seem to find the exact stuff that is mentioned. Plan on ordering it online

Thats the stuff I ended up using after not being able to find the other stuff (with the exception of 1 roll-which i bought). The other stuff is not as thick and has more of a temperment about sticking to panels. You need to make sure the mouting surface is super clean (use brake clean) before you apply it. Also, I found out its much easier just to cut it up to 6x6 squares.

I went through 1 1/2 rolls on the roof alone. Just a heads up for anyone who wants to do their whole truck-

a couple of pain in the ass hours. some of those tubes are touching the roof panel, which made it even harder to stuff that sticky stuff between them. Finishing it up this morning though

that looks like the same shit I used.. was the other side black sticky Tar type shit?
I rolled it on and when it got hot some parts started to peel off. but I just rolled over it again and didn't have any problems

I did my headliner and back panel below the window, also put it on the sides below the little ext cab windows. nothing on the floor.

I'm trying to do a price comparison... How much is the Home Depot stuff per Square foot?

Dynamat on Amazon: $1.83/ sq. Foot
Amazon.com: Dynamat 10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack 9 Sheets: Automotive

    Raamat: $1.90/ sq. Foot
    http://www.raamaudio.com/index.php?p...mart&Itemid=60

    Home Depot Mat: ???

Thanks Shannnne!!!!! Guess I wasn't paying attention... but it didnt make much sense when I posted. I think I did the math as if if was 19 pieces of dynamat instead of the 9.

i work at home depot and if ur looking for it, or have any questions, let me know. It is in the roofing aisle and is pretty thin. It is very sticky but as previously stated, its thin so u need to double and tripple up on it sometimes.

Since the Raamat is close in price, would it be better to just go that route? I have my roof off now so it seems like the best time to line it with some.

Doesn't a lot of the roofing stuff smell bad? like, its for a roof so they don't really give a fuck how it smells. If you search around on the net you can usually find some pretty good deals on dynamat and second skin. I had great luck with Mass Loaded Vinyl on the floor to kill noise. I used dynamat extreme everywhere else.

it doesn't smell at all in my truck anymore. It only stunk for 1-2 days (that includes install time). Its best if you can park inside of a garage and keep your windows down to get the stink out, its not like a rotten puss-that stink never goes away!
