Here is a question for the guys setting up the d44 in their RBVs. I just got done with my d44 conversion in my 93 ranger. I originally was going to run the beams at the stock width but that seemed to put the pinion and driveshaft almost directly under the frame-rail. In the interest of maximizing bump travel and keeping clearances sane i ended up with the stock beams in the ranger pivot locations to tuck the track width in a bit.

Joel, now that you have yours mocked up, do you think that will be an issue?

During mock up I lifted the tire and beam up till the beam hit the frame and it does stuff the 35" tire up fairly high. Enough that turning a stuffed tire will not go lock to lock on the steering. The tire contacts the inner fender support. A small notch in the frame under the coil bucket would help alot with straight ahead bump travel. Remember that the brackets I have made offer a 1.5" lift (STX geometry) and that does help with bump travel, over the stock brackets. Air bumps would be a plus.. As I see it 20"+ travel up front is achievable before any bind is seen in the u-joints. The droop travel is impressive. "Pulls the Bitches!" as the Bro's would say.

I'm going to be notching my frame a bit to help and will add strength back in with my coil bucket design.

You guys seem fairly well versed in this ttb 44 conversion stuff so I hope you don't mind I thread jack for a moment. Is it correct to say that in order to fit a ttb 44 under the front of a 2nd gen ranger, you have to clearance the frame a little to clear for the pig? Also, is it fair to say you are increasing your trackwidth 8" overall going from a 35 to a 44? Thanks

You don't need to clearance the frame for the Pig. The brackets drop everything down 1.5" so you gain a bit more uptravel. Bumpstops are recomended however. For the width is the reason for going D44. Saves from having to get all the fancy machining and custom parts needed for an extended D35 setup.

I need a set very very soon. Are there any other guys willing to put their order in right now so that we can get our brackets made pronto? If I have to wait till later February, then I'll be forced to build them myself, and I'm not looking forward to that nightmare.

If you are ready, please PM Joel that you are interested NOW and we can all send money.
