looks more like some .065 and undercutting. Thats scary, I hope the cage(if there is one) doesn't do that. Talk about someone getting impailed when it crashes....

the fab work on my golf cart is fine. the rear is out of a honda odyssey was that design crappy? the camber issues with the U joints is not a problem when the golf cart is moving or at normal stance, the camber of the rear stays level at all times. it was pulled up for the pic only take a look at the rest of them.
the only problem we have is the fact that the suspension is to soft and it rubs on the plastics durring rough landings. if any one can point out any "real" problems with the cart then do so now. except for the absense of a cage which is still in the works for the timebeing.

where did you find that pic any way?

Funny part is that is the Mcneil 8 truck.... if that is there race truck and that weld broke instead of bending the tube.... Makes me second guess there work, not talking trash on any of those guys just wondering why that happened.

o and here is a full shot of the truck after the roll..

that truck rolled and stuffed the full weight of the truck onto that tube. *im also not completely sure if the mcneils built that bumper, the person who's truck it is brought it to the mcneils to get the suspension redone. i can find out if you guys really want to know.

The other thing is the tube wall thickness may bee they were trying to save wheight ive seen the same ting any time you use under .095 and it is put under force.I would bet that the main tube under that one is thicker tubing thus mre heat welding = undercut on said tube.

If your not out racing your products, probly shouldnt talk shit unless your finishing faster than th Mcniels.

again like i said i am not talking down on Mcneils work, as stated above... I was just asking why it broke, not that the truck was a piece. I am buddy's with the guy who sold them the truck and that is the Mcneil bumper.

LoneRangerInOregon: Why would you want to try and save the wieght on the bumper, That is ment to hit shit and protect the truck? please read all posts before jumping to conclusions on someone's opinion.

Eric, if you could find out it would be cool, i know u have info on this truck since you did all the pictures, haha except this one, i can see you!

either way it was undercut and thats why it broke. It doesnt matter if its .120 wall, if you undercut its gonna break there. I am not cool with tubes breaking at the weld....

that tube does not look undercut.. the one behind it is slightly but i dont see it on the broke tube.. besides the weld held up undercut or not so it doesnt even matter about the welds.. the tube ripped cause of a big stuff/roll over.. something has got to give and to me looks like the truck took it pretty good.. i would way rather replace that one tube then rebuild a twisted chassis cause i had an indestructible front bumper.. not crappy imo

it is just thin tubing, which some people like since a bumper being crushed is easier than a frame being tweaked..

little scary for us to see but if they built the bumper to be the weak link, than it did its job..

its alot easier to replace a bumper than to straighten a frame.

Nothing should have broken at the weld, if the thin wall was used to take the force of the hit and save the vehicle that tube that sheared at the weld should have still been attached, but crushed and mangled.

yeah cause we all know mild is way superior to chromo since chromo breaks like glass in a roll ... and 4 links never work on rangers..

im just saying that there was a ton of leverage on that weld/ heat effected area...

I don't know if you guys realize it or not, I think Brock does, but a lot of builders use 0.95 wall mild for front and rear bumpers, mainly rear though. Of-course it all makes a difference on how your truck/car is set up.
Here is a Lower arm that Wicked Creations built for a Dodge Ram extra cab. The pic does not do the arm any kind of justice. The top plate is just that, no gussets inside what so ever.

under cut is a tem used mostly on tig welding, when you use more of the material to make the weld instead of filler. and it looks like the weld took bites out of the tube/material

    my best try at explaining...

yeah brian i have heard some races and shops set up trucks/ buggies this way to make the bumpers take the impact, not the person.. esb mike talked about it a while back.. smart idea in my mind expesially on non caged tucks . cause whats the point of having some man jammer bumper when your frame rails move everytime you hit somthing...
