Default 97 dodge dakota 4x4 with f250 3/4 ton axles

so i have a dakota with solid front and rear axles off a 250 and my power steering pump went out so i replaced it. I'm running 37" tires with a 10 inch lift, now my rack and pinion are out plus i believe i need a new steering/gear box? my ball joints are fine just had them checked, any ideas if i should buy maybe a after market box and pinion+pump? please give me some info on what to do or what site i can order from so i'm not going through theses yearly...thanks

exactly. I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on... Like, a steering box AND rack and pinion on a SAS? Doesn't make sense to me... I have been wrong before though so that's why I asked...

I've seen SAS trucks before with the rack mounted on the axle but I wouldn't do it that way. When I did mine I just used a box from a '91 Explorer. Like you guys already said, he wouldn't have both.

How about some pictures so we can see what you have.

Alright I guess I was wrong. The rack and pinion are gone but heres whats happening. I'll be driving and my wheels will randomly sharp turn and its scares the shit out of me almost got into a couple accidents. I'm pretty sure i need a new steering gear box because my wheels are harder than shit to turn even after replacing the power steering pump. Any ideas?

sounds like bump steer to me. happens when the track rod angle is different than the drag link. You also might have a power steering problem (fluid, leak, pump no good) Very rarely do steering boxes go bad, but like they said before, throw up some pics and lets figure this shit out

Does the steering wheel turn when this happens? If the steering wheel turns with the wheels then most likely your alignment is off but that wouldn't explain why it's hard to turn. Was it always hard to turn or is this something it just started doing? Also, what steering box did you use and what pump?
