I have a 94 xlt 4x4 4.0 when I got the truck the the 4x4 shift control module was removed. I was wondering if there was a way to engage the 4x4 manually without any long term or short term damage. If so could someone guide me through the process.![]()

remove the shift motor from the back of the transfer case. there will be a little triangle shaped shaft sticking out. it will probably be pointed at 2wd, turn it until it points to 4wd. it is easier to do with the tranny in neutral. once the shift motor is off it is as simple as crawling underneath the truck with some pliers to shift it. Not ideal, but i lived with it like this in my truck for a few years. lol

Thx.I know this is a dumb question, but just making sure. I just have to lock the hubs when i want to engage and disengage correct?
Yes. Do you have manual or automatic hubs?

manual hubs automatic trans.
I bought the transfer case control module but they sent the wrong one. I need the one that has aluminum fins on it. It looks kind of like an amplifier.Did you ever replace yours? If so where did you get the part?
id say a salvage yard, unless you order through a parts supplier but it might be pricey
