    Default what would you build?

for a toy only, never going to be raced, never going to be on the streets, no emissions yadda yadda. and on say a 10-15k budget from beginning to end of the build?

only requirements are that it seats a minimum of 2 people
just curious, if there is a thread like this, just link it to this one and lock this...

Of course. Kit up front, leafs in back, single shock per wheel, 31's and maybe a 1.5" cage. Keep it light and simple. You don't even need to run fiberglass. It would go all over the place with the suspension and the 4WD, but still be cheap and fun.

My truck was under 15k when I bought it. I'd get a truck like mine and just tinker with it.

Nissan Hardbody, custom kit up front, 62s out back, custom glass like Copykat, Summit cell, cheap seats, cage, FOAs, junkyard 9", and if there is anything left some mods for the KA24.

I love the Hardbody's lines, but hate the glass that is available, the KA24s are a dime a dozen and strong, and the trucks do not have the high resale of a Toyota.

I think the setup could compete with the 22r/62" Toyotas and look really good doing it.

I just saw the part about not racing, anything I build would be to race rules, I really want to compete.

    been looking at this..
    http://www.badlandbuggy.com/plans_st4.html

    ST4 Two Seater Specifications:
    Wheelbase = 90.5" (2300mm)
    Overall Width = 73.5" (1867mm)
    Overall Length = 127" (3225mm)
    Overall Height = 58" (1473mm)
    Estimated Weight = 1000 lbs (450 kg)
    Ground Clearance = 15.5" (394mm)
    Susp. Travel (Front) = 14" (356mm)
    Susp. Travel (Rear) = 14" (356mm)
Steering Type = Rack & Pinion
Brakes (Front) = Dual Disc Brakes
Brakes (Rear) = Single Disc Brake
Engine Type = 600cc+ Motorcycle Engine
Drivetrain = Chain / U-Joint Driveshafts (no differential)
Tires = AT26x7-15 (full size spare)
    Wheels = 15x7, 5+2 offset, 4 on 100mm

It's a Canadian company and they say it costs Steel $1200 Canadian Dollars, Parts $5000 Canadian Dollars

so that is like $100 USD I think..

they have a single seat long travel That I read a review from guy that put a hayabusa motor on ans said he could hit 90mph in 2nd gear.. couldn't have been bull shit I read It on the internet.

you can fit the frontier glass on the HB pretty easy, you should be able to drop a vq35 out of a z car in the HB also.

I really want to try and build an a-arm front end, the HB being so cheap and useless, it would be no major loss if the project was a failure; I would pattern the kit sort of after the one 85-Yota did on his black truck, it seemed very simple and effective, no laser cutting or expensive bungs. Also, I really like the hood line of the HB, I think it wold look amazing with some large smooth flares instead of the welts that are usually stuck on them.

Haha you don't want to do that again. I am thinking about picking up a rhino here soon after I replace the motor in my ranger.

TTB Ranger. Cage, 64's w/bypass, coilover up front. If its an all around toy, I agree with Jake, keep 4x4.

That said, you can find a BUILT ASS bug/buggy for that right now. And the HB is about the last thing in the world you want to do if you want to keep it cheap...I mean really??????

Never going to see the street? Then why start with a street-truck, build/buy a buggy.

If I came into a lump sum of $15k I could totally build a competent HB. His original question was what we would build, not what he should build.

    Default I think

I would get a rhino and add a long travel for 15K it could be super bad

I road in a lot of vehicals and this thing is fast and a mountain goat

In my opinion it is the best all round fun toy for the money

when i re-inlist (again) in 2012 i am starting the next project: giving my 1992 12 second MR2 a "facelift".... i think an old VW bug body with centermount front a-arms and 7x7 rear trailing arms would look nice wrapped around my T67 powered 400hp 2Liter motor...
Biggest Mega Huck I have ever done was riding shotgun in a Honda S2000..... Thank god for AIRBAGS!!!!

^ that explorer picture wtf? lol

-single cab beamed ranger for the win! v6 with a 5spd tons and tons of cheap beam kits (i would personally go with threat) and giant 64's and a cage and your right under 10 grand for a truck that would get down.

seriously, i dont get the whole rhino thing, i mean ya there fun for a few minutes but for the amount of money people put into them they are slow and unsafe (most, comapared to other vehicles).

Been kicking around the idea of making a two seater cart that can use the joyner trophy kart glass... Smaller bullet bike engine, solid rear with trailing arms, good shocks...
