Default Fuel Cell In Explorer Cargo Area

Ive been wanting to link the explorer for an extremely long time now, and i figured id start asking my questions now and get the bugs sorted out so that i know what i am doing when the time comes. I wanna put the fuel cell in between the frame rails in the rear of it, but i do not want to deal with the fumes all day, while i drive around town. How would you go about making it so i dont have to deal with that? And also, what lines/fittings do you reccommend and how can i make the fuel pump/sender work with the cell?

even if its vented outside the truck i am willing to bet you will still smell fumes..

Personally if you plan on driving this as your DD or often around town i would rethink linking it.

However if you really dont care, you could build a firewall behind rear seats... just make sure your windows are always down... the fittings ect. all depends on what you buy and how you route it...

i just used rubber push lock fuel hose and extended the stock wires to use the stock fuel pump. you will lose all of your cargo area and have to cut out pretty much the entire floor to do a cell though. You can rebuild a sheet metal firewall which is what im going to do.

check out my build thread, i put a fuel cell in, used the complete stock fuel pump assembly, and just extended the metal fuel lines using metal brake lines.. also built new metal plate that bolts to fuel cell in order to accomodate stock fuel pump. fuel fuafe still works as well. let me know if you would like some more pics.

I have a friend with a bronco with the cell in the cab and he made a fire wall behind the rear seats the bottom is aluminum and the top half is plexi glass next time I stop by the shop I'll take some pics of it for you.

make the choice whether you want the truck as a DD or almost strickly dirt only. That will be the defining moment you decide what way you want to go with it...

P.S. if you wanna know why come take my truck for a hot lap around my neighborhood.

body roll in my truck is not as bad as some, but driving my truck on the street gets old fast. Its way too loud/noisy, driving charactiristics suck. Other things that you might not have to worry about if you run different parts, but spool sucks on street, gearing sucks on the street, ect.

seriously if your ever down my way, let me know and we can take the truck out for a spin. its driveable but not nearly as nice as driving a pretty stock vehicle.

The real question is how you're gonna get a cell in there if your hatch and back doors dont open...
