Default Picture request, Chopped top Chevy!!!!

There was a 88-98 Silverado for sale on Race-Dezert a couple weeks ago. The roof was chopped a good 6-8 inches. It had a super low ride height, Trailer Products glass? the glass was opened up quite a bit. I can't find it for sale anymore, and would really like pictures!! Thanks!!

We made the chassis(frame rails) for this and the main parts of the cage. And the owner did the rest himself... i can get more info if you guys need anything. It was originally planned to be a solid axle front end but i believed plans have changed to make it A-arm.
EDIT: Now i see that he did go with A-arms after all.

I remember looking at that listing as well, it looks very good! Its a cool truck, I like the stance, low and wide. If sprung right Id say it would be a very good performer but if I remember correctly it was at a very uncool price for what you get, I dont remember for sure though. For as low as it sets and being solid rear Ive have to imagine it dont have much for bump travel however

Believe me, these tires tuck in as far as you want. It will lay frame if you want it too. I dont believe hes priced to sell it. He's not desperate to get rid of it.

Interesting. Is there a build thread for this? It doesn't look like a chopped top, more like a cab drop. Look at the body line on the door and rear fender.

Those are 99-06 rear fenders, so the body line wouldn't match up

Pretty sure that's just an S10 Cab with full size glass, making the cab appear smaller.

That does look like an S10 cab but I dont see any lines where its been widened so how would the clip width match the cab width?

Ya. Thinly its s10 cab. Fiberglass does not match and is much bigger. First picture if you look close at cab. Looks like a seem in the middle.

I don't like the look personally. But that is just me.

The arms were taken off another truck and put on this frame and it is a full size cab. the seem in the middle is from the chop top

The cab was probably chopped by cutting the roof off and shortening the a/b pillars.. Then the roof was cut in 4 like a "+" sign and the pillars tacked back together. You're then left with gaps in the shape of a "+" sign that you fill in with sheetmetal. I believe this is the most common way to do a chop top so you can use stock glass... just cut it shorter opposed to having custom glass made if you bend the pillars to different angles and use the stock roof.

Since the A pillars taper in slightly at the top, when you bring the roof down it needs to be widened to meet back up with the A pillars that are now farther apart where the roof meets.

Edit: Kevin beat me to it.

im going to say its not chopped and the glass is higher than the body.. ya ya say the body lines dont match up BUT. the top of the bed sides are higher than the window line and the front glass is almost the same height over the cowl of the cab. take those measurements of 3" or so. and it looks chopped

^ No, it's chopped. Did you not read the add? It's a 89-98 Chevy Silverado cab with the top chopped down like Dutch Ear Racing's method. The glass is super hacked up and mounted incorrectly to give it a "super aggressive stance". I wish I would have saved the pics now but the whole thing was hack. That's no brake line on the arm, just a misplaced and booger welded seam.

I wish I had enough foresight. I actually took LTSILVY's post earlier and added a number to the address. Those 2 were the other 2 in the RDC add.

That J-arm is backwards from the norm, they usually reach around the motor toward the rear. Maybe clearance for headlights?
