I don't get why everyone has their panties wadded over paying to spectate. Given everything that's happened, the fact that you can spectate at all is worth being happy about these days. At the SCORE Laughlin race, admission was 2x as much and nowhere near as popular as the dyke jump.

Even if only half of the money raised went to Fast Aid, it still costs money to provide the fencing, security, etc. It would be different if you paid $10 to sit behind a fence 100 feet away from a pit road with limited speed, but in my opinion it's worth paying a little to help cover the costs of providing spectator areas in places people actually want to be.

i think HDRA did a great job. diffferences and stuff i liked vs racing BAP a couple times.
    1. the helicopter was bad ass.
    2. saftey at the dyke jump was way better, didnt get the sketch feeling of people on course.
    3. the poduim/interview after the race was rad (even though we dnfed that part)
    4. seeing roger norman and ivan stewart talking to the crowd at the dyke jump was pretty cool.
    5. course was marked way better, and had way more staff out on course.
    6. low entries due to being a new series.... this wasnt a positive, but i think will change soon.

The post race interview/podium deal was cool. Pretty sure BITD does that. Makes for a cool addition. Will be cooler even on the longer races where you can still feel a little baller ish just for getting your heap to the finish. Sexier than crossing the line and heading straight back to your pit.

The car count thing kind of stinks for Primm. I suspect Laughlin this winter will be the same unless one or the other of the two has already established itself as the front runner by then. But with BAP a month later, plus the bonus money they are throwing around, the downside to competition like that is it will continue to split the entries. As much as it sucks, sooner or later one of the two is going to have to emerge as the Primm/Laughlin kings, otherwise people are going to keep having to split their loyalties.

I will say this though on a personal level, the 2000 gig makes HDRA an attractive option to me. SNORE doesn't have that option and while for me getting to races like Plaster City would be a pain, the opportunity to compete in a class that is at least close to what my truck would be makes it desireable. 2000 is the new 1400/50! Back to basics, relatively simple builds without all the crazy horsepower and money, and can still be competitive. Now we just need more trucks to join the party!

Had some friends doing retrieval's and HDRA offered them $100 to compensate for the gas they used while helping. That is awesome and gives vlenteers even more of an incentive. Especially with gas prices going up. The $100 was just an added bonus of a great time from what i have heard. Everythign was ran great and very safe.

And $10 donation or not, is worth it to sit at the Dyke jump. Especially if it means more saftey workers and more fencing. HDRA could put the offroad community and racing into a new light with the BLM and this is exactly what we need.

I know for a fact the blm rangers that were there are smiling like a kid getting a new bike for Christmas. Roger was doing hot laps around the coarse all weekend in his pre runner with a blm ranger every time. And even before at the driver meeting they were saying how excited they were and how well it was all going.

It's just nice to see the right amount of attension being paid to safety. Every year we all knew what area's of what tracks were more dangerous than others. Sounds like HDRA may have a winning formula. I can't wait to see what SNORE comes up with in response.

OH and if Roger was putting BLM employees in his pre-runner, good on him! Let them expierience what they are watching!!!!!!!!!!!!
