If I were buying a new truck, it would be either a Nissan Titan or Frontier. I've driven both and the motors are bitchin and the truck rides pretty well to boot. The frontier with the 6 speed (and 265 hp stock&#33 scoots pretty well.
But hell, the Titan is only a few G's more.
The Titan is a bitchin truck, great power and very affordable. There are many kits in the works for this truck, and in almost all price ranges.
If I were to buy a Titan, the first thing I'd do is throw on a PRG leveling kit. And shortly after that, a donahoe coilover (not out yet, but I know it'll be good). I'm sure Greg Gagnon will chime in shortly, he's the *go-to* guy for Titans.

The titan is a great truck. There are some really nice lift kits on the market, some a bit taller than others. Only one kit seems to be giving people issues. The CST kit is coming down a bit in price to make it more comparable to the others, its really the nicest kit out now. CST makes the only long travel for 2wd. Im sure SLR is going to be building some really trick stuff soon too. I will be racing a titan in 1450 next year, running an Total chaos long travel kit, it will work with 2 or 4 wd. Pm me if you want all the info on these trucks.

    For Jen:
Total chaos is going to make a kit for the titan?. Or you are going to modify an existing kit to fit?

the only problem that i know if is the brakes... my buddy has one and he has had 3 sets of front rotors on it since he bought it... otherwise i think it's the best 1/2 ton truck on the market.

I wouldn't call the titan rearend weak. It's a misconception really. Sure it's got a dana 44 (so does a dodge viper, albeit IRS), but it runs such a high gear that the pinion's as big as a 9inch with 4.56's. The main concern in those rearends I believe, is the axle bearings.

That said, Greg's 1450 titan is getting a 9-inch. We've all seen how he drives. And the Total Chaos kit will be a brand new kit, built by total chaos, that Greg will race on.

The axle is weak, it is a constant conversation piece between us and the Nissan engineers. We had 2 different Titans at Four Wheeler and we grenaded 2 diffs, one on each truck. They are putting way too much power through that diff for the tow rating. It reminds me of the last generation of Chevy trucks with the 350 and 8.5, if you did any towing you needed a diff rebuild at 60,000 miles on the dot. We replaced the rear end on the Project Tiatan with a Dynatrac 60 - no more problems.

Otherwise the Titan is a good truck, great powertrain and the Frontier currently has our vote as the best compact truck.

    Ganon.........BUCKLE UP........

Mid-August the new website launches with an array of Titan products. As for 1450, we feel it's about time to address the issue, once and for all. One season, one championship, and were out. Check the rearview in 2006.

As for you Spive, you may have threw us under the bus, but the freight trains comin....

If this is in regards to Four Wheeler's Project Frontier, that decision was made at a level far higher than me. I have noting against the quality of your products and there is no reason to call me out on the board for a business decision I didn't make. PM me if you have some probelm with me and we can take it off the board.

Thats the problem I'm having right now. I am going to get one or the other soon, but I still haven't decided which one...of course it seems a lot cheaper to go route of F-150...

I would be happy with either, but if the f-150 was cheaper, then id get that. One thing i like about the titan 4x4s is front And rear L/S.

Nissan's pricing philosophy when the Titan came out was to right-price it out of the box. This meant tracking what the F-150s and competition actually sold for and price thier vehicle closer to the real-world transaction price w/o incentives. The problem is that people in the full-size truck market like incentives. Would you rather have a $27K F-150 you get $5000 in rebates on, or a $23K Titan? Pricing is all a game.

Yeah, now they offer rebates because Titans were not moving, and were not meeting sales expectations.
