    Default offroading in a boat??

Hey Im kinda new, wasnt sure if I should post this in the marine rides or here but anyway figured some of you hardcore offroaders may get a kick out of these boats. Fuly welded aluminum, skid plate , the whole bit. Its like offroading on water

Some pics and a few vids of the abuse, i mean use ....

We had my buddies in Moab years back, even had to get some welding done at a local shop during Jeep week, think the guy was pretty happy to be working on something without wheels for a change lol

They are made here in Alberta but they actually stopped making this exact model because Mercury doesnt make the 240 anymore
The boats were about 42k Canadian new

My buddy from Michigans boat is #22, we took that on a roadtrip thru Colorado and Utah before ending up in Idaho to race the Salmon River, alot of that footage is from that race , so Im navigating in SJ22(identical to my boat but with a cage) My old 21'tunnel is the red/white boat throwing the roost, running thru the tree's and sinking in Michigan haha

The Salmon race is pretty hairy, very rough and technical. Jesse almost flippin at the end was due to high winds, they cancelled the rest of the day after that set of legs. He thought he got "almost vertical" till people were showing him footage of the boat being past vertical lol

Im not in every boat but most of them, filiming usually in that particular vid.

This type of boating is super addictive. Hard to go back to running lakes after youre used to bashing rocks, jumping logs and running in 4" of water

    Who says they dont?

Like anything(fun) theres definitely wear and tear with this type of thing. The Mercury gear is pretty robust actually once you change to a proper steel rock grate (about 3/8"-1/2" gaps) and put in a stainless steel wear ring liner. Even then you may need to give your pump a freshen once a year, sharpen the blades etc Like anything the more you stay on top of it the better performance you can maintain. Getting on step fast can be pretty important in some places we get into, intentionally or not haha This boat has a race style intake so no "EZClean" style grate(those you stomp a bar at the back of the boat and it clears the rocks from the grate). Pickin the rocks out is a daily task, you just hope you dont get so clogged that you have to do it on the river. You'd be amazed what these boats can take. One time I had a wiring issue and we couldnt get the boat to run and to a decent place to get it out so we had to do "this" (see pics) Offroad guys know, you do what you gotta do......

ironically it was probably easier on the boat than what we did to it on the river that day hahaha

Yea too bad it was sorta dark by then, we dragged the boat up that hill thru the woods. You cant really tell how steep it was, but that light in the one pic is the truck headlight haha
Gravel/rocks at 1-5 mph are better than at 65

People waiting to cross the bridge did give us some funny looks tho......

This province doesnt have a ton of open water/lakes etc itds more rivers so jet/riverboating is pretty popular yea. This is definitely on the more extreme end of things, there are more tame "family/fishing" style boats too. Im alot more into the sport boats tho, obviously haha

Its a total rush, running water you cant stop in. Taking out new people is great too , the looks you get when you're running thru 4" and not touching Hitting stuff wrong and gettuing stuck can be funny too, well till they are told they gotta get out and help push haha The more you push your luck the more fun it is(and the worse you get stuck when things go wrong) Fast flowing water and rapids are just addicting

I spent my summers on the Salmon River in Idaho and there was a couple guys that would run jetski up and down it. was interesting to watch.

They build these boats where I live (Red Deer, Alberta) where are you from xero?

Here are a couple shops local that build that style of boat. A very common power plant is the LSA from the new CTS-V supercharged.
