Thread: November DRIVE / ORW Race Moved to December

We submitted our permit for the November 27th race and it was denied due to the BLM not being able to staff the race to the level that they want. With that weekend being one of the busiest weekends for the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area I can understand the situation. The El Centro office is responsible for Glamis, Gordons, Buttercup, Superstition, Plaster City. Ocotillo Wells, and a few other areas. It doesn’t mean I like it but for right now it is what it is. The main thing is to keep racing and doing what we love on public lands.

The BLM is allowing us to move the date to December 4th and we have resubmitted the permit with the new date.

We will be updating our website as soon as possible.

Wow. That's a bummer. Hopefully that doesn't keep happening. We wouldn't want to inconvenience the BLM WHO WE PAY.

Wow i wonder if we will ever get New Years again.......but we could not race on the 27th so now we can race on the 4th so it worked out good for us.

Bummer two races on the same day. It happens I guess.

Looks like we are gonna be racing this race with the TL!

RE: December 4, 2010 DRIVE Race

After many discussions DRIVE has made the difficult decision to cancel the December 4th race due to a low number of pre-entries. Low number of entries has not stopped DRIVE from putting on a race in the past but they are looking at the long term future of the series. The series has decided to put a significant amount of money and effort into marketing the 2011 season rather than putting it into a race with small entries. The new marketing effort will include a contracted Marketing Manager, print and web ads, as well as video.

In the last two years we have developed an incredibly loyal group of racers, volunteers, and sponsors that would show up to any of our races regardless of the number of entries. I hope that they all know how much we appreciate them and that we made the decision for the future of the series they have worked so hard to support. In the next few weeks you will start to see and hear a lot more advertising from us in regards to the 2011 season. Our January 22nd permit application has been submitted to BLM and we plan to push on into 2011. Canceling a race is the last thing I would ever want to do but it will not affect our standing with the BLM and will allow us to come back strong in January”

So, bring your trucks to the MORE race guys! Either that or RATR. There are 19 1400's signed up as of Monday. Only 3 1450.
